SAFETY TIPS

PARENTS/STUDENTS: It has come to our attention that students are having a difficult time
crossing the street from the Plainview pool at the crosswalk onto Kennedy Drive in the mornings,
especially since it is still dark as they are arriving. Although there is a sign allowing you to make
a righthand turn onto Kennedy Drive, you must be sure to make a full stop, and when clear of
pedestrians, you may do so. For those students who are walking across from the Plainview pool
parking lot, please be sure to cross at the light only. Crossing in the middle of the road, weaving
between cars, is a very dangerous situation. Please discuss with your children the dangers
involved in crossing this way and instruct them to cross at the light only.

ATTENTION STUDENTS WHO PARK IN THE PLAINVIEW POOL PARKING LOT: Please do
not move the safety cones that are placed in the parking spots. They are specifically put there for
your protection and should not be tampered with. Additionally, when parking near a cone, please
leave space between your car and the cone. Please be advised that the Plainview Community Pool
parking lot will be closing at 7 PM each day until further notice. Students parking at the pool must
remove their cars no later than 7 PM.

We are asking all students who are parking on Washington Avenue to be mindful not to park on
our neighbors’ grass. This is not only damaging to the grass but to the sprinkler systems of the
homes. Please make sure to keep your tires on the roadway.
