Wednesday, September 6th is the first day of school for all students in Grades 10-12.

Day activities for all students. The day will begin at 8:20 and end at 2:20, buses will be running on this day for
grade 9 students who take the school bus. As it is a regular school day, for grade 9 students, students are
asked to be in full uniform. Lunch will be provided: chicken burger/veggie burger, cookie and water. Just a
reminder that Grade 9 students who did not pay for their lock can still do so by visiting the secondary office
with their payment or by visiting School Day (online access will resume September 6th). Students will be
issued a lock and locker. The cost of the lock is $12.50.

4. Course Change Requests (Gr.10, 11 and 12): Please note that at this point in time all student
timetables should be considered finalized. We will only be making changes to a student's timetable if they
meet the criteria for courses. Unfortunately, we will not be able to make course changes for any other reason
as students were given the opportunity to make changes in April for course verifications. Link to Criteria for
course changes.
If a student would like to make a course change request, please visit our school website https://cch.ycdsb.ca/
and click on the "Students" tab. You will see a drop-down menu with a link titled, "Guidance". Click on
“Counsellor Request Form’ on the top menu to submit a form. Each submission will enter a virtual queue that
is time-stamped and will be processed by our Guidance teachers. The form will open Friday, September 1st
and will close Friday, September 8th at 11:59 p.m. Please note, that summer school report cards have
been processed and alternates listed during course selection/course verifications have been added to student

7. Uniform: Cardinal Carter Catholic High School believes that a student dress code fosters a sense of
belonging and pride; a safe and respectful learning and teaching environment; and a confident and positive
sense of self and respect for the dignity and welfare of others. Our sole uniform provider is DGN Kilters:
https://dgn-kilters.com/. Please see the uniform poster here.

The uniform consists of

● long or short-sleeved golf shirt with the Cardinal Carter logo (if wearing a short-sleeve golf shirt,
students may wear a white t-shirt underneath without long sleeves extending out under the
golf shirt)
● school rugby shirt or quarter zip sweater in lieu of the golf shirt
● If students wear the cardigan or the full zip sweater, they are required to wear the golf shirt
underneath
● DGN grey pants with the Cardinal Carter logo embroidered on the pant leg
● ALL black shoes (no additional markings or colours permitted)
● School Spirit Wear is not part of the school uniform
● Hats, hoodies, and jackets are not part of the school uniform.

Students are expected to be in full uniform for the entire school day (8:20 a.m.-2:20 p.m.) and to use their
lockers to store non-uniform attire (e.g. hoodies, jackets) and their personal belongings upon arrival at school.
Students who are not compliant with the uniform policy will be subject to progressive discipline:
1st occurrence: warning
2nd occurrence: change into appropriate uniform and return to class, if not sent home or work in the office
3rd occurrence: 1 day suspension

8. Spirit Wear: Spirit Wear consists of a Cardinal Carter School t-shirt/sweater or a Cardinal Carter
Club/Council/Team sweater. Students are permitted/encouraged to wear their Spirit Wear tops on school Spirit
Days (every Wednesday). All new students to Cardinal Carter and Grade 9 students will receive a “spirit wear”
t-shirt. Information for regular Spirit wear items is found here and for Graduating 2023/2024 students is found
here.

9. Transportation Bus services will begin on the first day of school. For information on your bus route,
please check www.schoolbuscity.com

10. Parking: Students who drive to school and would like to park on school property are required to complete
this form, bring it to the Main Office and pick up a parking pass. Student parking is located on the south side
of the school. Click here to see a map of student parking lots. Students must use the assigned parking area,
as well, to display their school-assigned parking tag. Students who do not obtain a parking tag may be at risk
of being tagged or towed. Please note, loitering in vehicles is not permitted.

11. Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up:

1. Parents drive into the first driveway leading into Cardinal Carter and loop around towards the east
side of the school. No stopping/unloading at this point.
2. Parents drop off their children at the back of the building (east side of the building).
3. Parents will keep driving to complete a full loop around the school to exit the parking lot.
Please refrain from dropping off just before the driveway, on the driveway leading into Cardinal or
even on the road leading into the school as this poses a safety issue for our students on their way to
school.

12. Food Delivery: Student use of delivery services to the school, such as Uber Eats is not permitted.

13. Mental Health

Starting back at school is a transition for all. Talking to your child about the return to school can help to ease
fears or uncertainty. Here are some ways to start the conversation:
● Who are you looking forward to connecting with?
● How are you feeling about the school year?
● What is one thing you feel excited for?
● How can I help you feel comfortable about school?
