TECHNOLOGY LESSON PLAN

Name of lesson:
• Less than, Greater Than and Equal To
Concept/Topic:
• Identifying and applying Less than, Greater Than and Equal To
Grade Level Appropriateness:
• 3rd Grade
Technology Content Standards Addressed:
• 2.5.2 Create a document including a graphic using basic formatting techniques that
demonstrate the ability to type, edit, and print.
• 3.5.4 Use an organizational format to arrange information for presentation or decision
making.

Other Content Standards Addressed:

• CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.NF.A.3.D: Compare two fractions with the same numerator
or the same denominator by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid
only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the
symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
• expression.
• CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.D.9: Identify arithmetic patterns.
General Goal:
• Students will be able to identity, apply and comprehend greater than, less than, or
equal to

Objectives:
• Student will be able to identify what the symbols for less than, greater than, and equal too
are.
• Student will do mathematical examples together in class.
• Students will demonstrate they comprehend the material by doing activities on the white
board.
• Once students understand and comprehends the material, they will create and make their
own math sheet.
• Students’ math sheet will consist of 10 problems.
Materials:
• Paper
• Pencil/Pen(s)
• Microsoft Word
• YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka9zbPcqXBI
Special Need Accommodation:
• To the special needs student in my classroom, according to their IEP, they need a number
line on their desk, a calculator for math equations, and modified assignments if students
has difficulty.
Anticipatory Set (Lead-In):
• Ask if they know what less than, greater than, or equal too is.
• Tell the class to raise both hand and tell them to make a “L” with their left hand. When
they do, have class repeat “L for Left, which is the same sign for less than, and explain
what less than is. Then tell them the opposite hand is greater than and show them the
symbol for greater than and what it means. And continue into the lesson.
Procedures:
1. Students will be asked if they know anything about less than, greater than, or
equal to.
2. Students will then be given basic definitions and interpretations so they may
understand what less than, greater than, or equal to is.
3. To further explain, I will show a YouTube video to get the students interested and
excited and show them visuals of what the symbols look like.
4. After the video, students will come up to the board and asked to give me a set of
number with a ______ in the middle; As a class we will go over these questions on less
than, greater than, or equal to.
5. After practice questions are done, students will than do an activity together and
will explain what they understand and what they do not.
6. After activity, students will take a quick pop quiz with a 15 min timer to see if
they grasped the subject.
7. Then students will be shown on how to create their own mathematical activity
sheet in classroom together and will be asked to create their own as homework and to be
brought back tomorrow.
Plan for Independent Practice:
• Students will practice independently when going over the practice questions.
Additionally, will be given more independent practice with the pop quiz, and by making
their own Math activity sheet.
Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Have kid give me their practice question answers on the
way out the door so that they may receive point for participation, as well as the pop quiz for a
grade and to see where the students are.
Assessment Based on Objectives: Graded on 10 points for the practice question activity, with
and additional 10 points for the pop quiz. They will also receive 10 points for participation in
class.
