from around the world participated. Voting was done by SMS and the Internet

The art deco-style Christ the redeemer statue has been the looming over the Brazilians
from upon Corcovado mountain in an awe-inspiring state of eternal blessing since
October 12 ° 1931, that was inaugurated after works that lasted a total of 5 years. the
13-foot reinforced concrete-and-soapstone statue was designed by Heitor da Silva
Costa and cost approximately $250.000 to build - much of the money was raised
through donations. The statue has become and easily recognized ico for Rio and Brazil
and for believers, a place of pilgrimage. the statue was created by Polish-French
sculptor Paul Landowski, while the face of it is a work by Gheorghe Leonida, a
Romanian sculptor who was included in such work by Landowski himself.
It is the third largest statue of Jesus of Nazareth in the world, behind the 36 m, of
Crist the king of Świebodzin Polan, and 34 m, the Crist of Concod in Cochabamba
Bolivia.
Creating a religious image on the top of the Corcovado hill in Brazil was born many
years ago before it could be carried out. It was the religious Pedro Maria Boss who
shared this idea with Princess Isabel of Portugal, who supported him in her
proposal. We are situated in the year 1859.
Despite this, it would not be until 1921 when the idea began to be considered as a
possibility of actually carrying it out. At that time, it was seen as the possibility of
celebrating the centenary of Brazilian independence, which caused its construction
to really begin in 1926.

Fuente: SENA

In 2007, the new 7 wonders of the world were announced after voters all around the
world selected their favorite exiting phenomena. The chosen landmarks are: The Great
Wall of China, Petra (Jordan), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil), Machu Picchu (Peru),
Chichen Itzá (Mexico), Colosseum (Italy), Taj Mahal (India) and The Great Pyramid of
Giza (Egypt).

For completing this evidence, you need to do two parts. The first one is to look for
information about one of the 7 new wonders and also about the massive campaign that
was held globally to select them. In the second part, you need to record a tape in which
you relate the history of your selected wonder and also explain how it ended up in the
final list of 7. Take into account that for completing this evidence you need to refer to
the construction, history, development and current status of your selected wonder. In
addition, you need to refer to most of the data you obtain by using the passive voice.
Finally, bear in mind that your recording must be at least two-minutes long.
