Safety Cautions !
Before operating Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor, please read carefully

and follow the following instructions:

Perfect system grounding

System grounding must be perfect. Otherwise, not

only the personal safety is not protected, a series of


● harmful effects will be brought about. Imperfect

grounding causes heavy system interference, resulting

in instability and unreliability of the system. Even

Design alternation prevention

Do not alter or add any part to the mechanical or

Digicom multi-screen processor is a special control

system, and not a computer device for general purpose.

So, when the users need to install their own software,

they must consult VTRON or dealers in advance.

Shut off the Power Supply

Always unplug the system AC power cord from the

AC power source before the following operations:

A. Removing or reinstalling any part of the system,

except hot swappable parts.

B. Disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical plug or

other connection of the system.

Keep away from the material of combustible and

explosive

Corrosive chemical gas and materia medica will

make the mechanical and circuit damaged. When

cleaning the system, don’t use volatile solvent and

cleanser. Gasoline, thinner and acetone are forbidden.

Keep away from the device of electromagnetic

wave disturbing

Under the environment of electromagnetic wave

disturbing, the performance and stability of production

will be debased.

Power disconnector

The device described in this manual uses appliance coupler

or power plug as power disconnector. During device

running, please keep disconnector at easy-to-contact

location so that it may be used to disconnect the power

supply in case of emergency.

Note:

A. Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an

incorrect type.

B. Batteries should be recycled where possible. Disposal

of used batteries must be in accordance with local

environmental regulations.

1 Generals
1.1 About Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor

Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen

processor is the latest generation of multi-screen

processor developed by VTRON Company. It

features advanced technology, high performance,

all-round functionalities and great reliability.

With the world-leading technology of 160Gb/s

high-speed bandwidth bus and full-cross

dispatching structure for high-speed data transmission technology, the displaying speed of

Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor is thus fundamentally guaranteed.

By integrating tens of creative technologies such as true-redundant power supply modules,

on-line maintainable module design, Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor boasts fully

real-time image displaying capability, outstanding image displaying effect and extremely high

safety and reliability. Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor can be adopted in multiple

comprehensive application environment, for example, control room, command center, operation

and maintenance center, data management center, conference room and etc..

1.2 Functions and features of Digicom Ark1200

Single logic screen

Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor adopts open and modular architecture and

all outputs from the multi-screen processor could be combined into a super-high seamless

single logic screen. Various live video signal, RGB signal, IP video signal and network PC

signal could be displayed on this high-resolution display platform in modes of windows and

in any size.

Creative 160Gb/s bandwidth bus

Starting from customer’s requirement and working on the basis on creative technology

development, VTRON designs and develops independently the data transmission chip

technology for application in digital display wall system and introduces the completely-new

160Gb/s multi-screen processor high-speed bandwidth bus, thus thoroughly removing the

questions of low bandwidth of multi-screen processor in digital display wall system, which

otherwise affects system’s displaying speed. This greatly improves Digicom Ark1200 series

multi-screen processor’s displaying speed and enables it with unparalleled displaying

capability.

Technology of full-cross dispatching architecture for high-speed data transmission

Digicom Ark1200 Series multi-screen processor adopts full-cross dispatching architecture

for high-speed data transmission. The bottom-level data transmission is controlled through

the VTRON unique data dispatching chip technology, which dynamically allocates special

point-to-point transmission channels for each channel of signal. Each channel of RGB

signal, video signal and network signal occupy a special and independent transmission

channel, which enables all signal being displaying in real time.

Brilliant image and optimum picture quality

By applying VTRON unique image sharpness technology and accurate front forecast and

dynamic compensation de-interlacing technology, Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen

processor displays the composite video with superior quality, sharp image, fluent speed

and redundant colors.

High reliability

Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor adopts modular hardware design and

hot-swapping functionality is designed for system power supply, fan, RGB input board,

Video input board, stream video board, display board and system control board. The faulty

or abnormality of any module will not affect the operation of other modules. System is

designed with business recovery capability and can resume automatically to the previous

displaying status after board hot-swapping. By monitoring the temperature at the system

air-in, air-out and key point within the chassis, system reliability is thus ensured.

RGB signal input (optional)

Maximum 32 channels of analog/digital RGB signal input are supported, with the input

resolution ranging from 640×480 to 1600×1200. The RGB window opened on the display

wall can be moved, zoomed in/out or overlapped freely on the single logic screen.

Live video signal input (optional)

Maximum 32 channels of composite video/S-Video signal input are supported, in

NTSC/PAL or SECAM format. All the signals can be displayed as windows on the display

wall. These windows on the display wall can be moved, zoomed in/out or overlapped

freely on the single logic screen.

IP video signal input (optional)

Maximum 32 channels of IP video signals input are supported. H.264 IP video stream in

format of QCIF, CIF, HD1 and D1(4CIF)are supported. All these signals can be displayed

on the display wall in modes of windows, which can be moved, zoomed in/out or

overlapped freely on the single logic screen.

Network functions

Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor supports TCP/IP network protocol and can

be connected into Windows or Uinux networks, without the need to change the existing

network environment. By applying VTRON VLink or VLinkExpress, remote network PC’s

desktop can be displayed on the single logic screen.

Digital display wall management (optional)

VWAS is the digital display wall application management software developed by VTRON

for better management and control of VTRON digital display wall system. By adopting

network distributed structure, VWAS supports simultaneous connection and control by

multiple network users and provides friendly man-machine interface, making operation and

control of the digital display wall very convenient and fast, bringing its functions into more

perfect play. Moreover, interface for the user’s secondary development is provided. For

more information about VWAS, please refer to VWAS software manual.

2 Board introduction
2.1 System control board

In Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor, the system control board is located in the

middle of the 17 slots and belongs to control level in the system. Its main function is to complete

the communication with the control PC and dispatch various signals to the destination board

according to control PC’s command.

Features and functions

 System dispatching function and coordinating various boards to accomplish related

tasks;

 To generate H/V sync. clock for the system and various boards.

 To monitor the temperatures of each module and report abnormality if necessary.

 Self-diagnosis to convenience system upgrade and maintenance.

 Supporting board software and logic on-line upgrading.

 In case of system temperature abnormality, to switch system into power-saving mode or

cut-off the power supply, thus to guarantee system safety.

 Supporting RS232 on-line debugging.

 Supporting hot-swapping.

2.2 Display board

The main function of the main board is to processing the signals before sending the signals

for final display on the display terminal.

 To finish signal splitting, zooming in/out and overlapping.

 Standard DVI-D interface output designed for display terminals, output resolution

reaching up to1600×1200@60Hz.

2.3 RGB input board (optional)

RGB input board is a high definition input board. Maximum 4 channels of RGB signals

(ARGB or DRGB) can be captured in one board. Signals of different formats are converted into

the same format and transmitted to displayed for final processing before displaying on display

terminal

Features and functions:

 Supporting RGB Signals of RGBHV, RGBS and RGsB. The bandwidth reaching up to

165MHz and 4 channels of input are supported on one board.

 Supporting signal cropping and signal displaying pausing.

 In case of signal source switching, automatic format detection enables parameters

self-adapting.

 ARGB automatic white-balance are supported.

 Signal input abnormality warning and reporting are supported.

 Self-diagnosis for upgrading and board on-line software and logic upgrading are

supported.

 Hot-swappable is supported.

2.4 Video input board (optional)

Video input board is a stand definition signal input board. Maximum 4 channels of signal

input are supported in one board. In case of signal switching, signal format self-detecting supports

parameter’s self-adapting.

Features and functions:

 Formats of NTSC, PAL or SECAM are supported.

 Working status monitoring and faulty reporting are supported.

 Signal cropping and displaying pausing are supported.

 Self-diagnosis is designed for system maintenance and upgrading.

 Hot-swapping is supported.

2.5 Steam video input board (optional)

The main function of stream video input board is to decode the stream video from the

network and covert them into high-speed serial signal for processing and overlapping in displaying

board.

Features and functions:

 Maximum 4 channels of stream video input are supported in one board.

 H.264 IP stream video supported.

 Hot-swapping is supported.

 On-line software upgrading supported.

 Abnormality warning and reporting are supported.

3 Installation

Important Notices

1) The system installation/mounting on customer’s site should be carried out by those

technical engineers who are trained to be qualified. Before system installation/mounting,

please consult VTRON aftersales or the dealers, thus to obtain more technical guide. To

ensure personal safety, at least two personals are needed to accomplish the system

installation/mounting process.

2) At delivery from the from the manufacturer, Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen

processor is delivered as a complete machine and all the hardware within the

multi-screen processor is installed and configured within the factory and passes a series

of strict tests, such as high-low temperature test, aging test and etc.. What needs to do on

customer’s site is to connect the multi-screen processor with other equipment within the

display wall system.

Note: in some applications, some of the above-introduced board are shipped to

customer’s site independently with special packages. In these cases, user needs to

installed the boards according to the instructions introduced in the following chapters.

3) Please use the cables provided along with the equipment. If user does need use his own

cables, please consult VTRON or the dealer, to obtain related technical guide.

4) Before installation/mounting, please ensure the installation/mounting environment meets

the environment requirement (such as temperature, power supply, grounding system and

etc.).

3.1 Shipping list

Note:

 Please check the goods within the package with reference to the shipping list within the

package box. In case of any goods missing, please consult your supplier.

 The pictures in this manual are only taken as examples for illustration purpose.

 Please keep the package materials for future use.

3.2 Chassis mounting

Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor adopts standard industrial ATCA chassis.

Modular design enables high system expandability. Redundant modular design of power supply

and fan guarantees system reliability and optimum cooling effect. Independent cabling support

makes system cabling much more easy and conveniences system maintenance.

There are two types for mounting a multi-screen processor on customer’s site.

3.2.1 Rack-mounting

It is mounting the multi-screen processor within the special rack together with other

equipment in customer’s application environment. Please see the following picture.

Note: The rack for mounting multi-screen processor and other equipment should be purchased

independently by customer. For more information, please consult VTRON aftersales or the

dealers.

3.2.2 Desktop mounting

It is to place the multi-screen processor on customer-provided platform. In this mounting

environment, user needs to adopt various measures to ensure equipment safety.

3.2.3 Cabling support

User can use the cabling support to fixing the cables connected with the processor. Please see

the following picture for the appearance of the cabling support.

 For desktop mounting

The support is placed behind the chassis and fixed with screws on the platform.

During cabling, please take off the cover on the cabling slot by unscrewing the screws and

then place the cables in the slots. Finally, fixing the cover back to the support.

 For rack-mounting

In rack-mounting application, the cabling supporting should be adapted accordingly, that is,

taking off the side support and the support stand. Fix the cabling slots on the back of the rack and

behind the multi-screen processor, which is shown as the following picture.

During cabling, please take off the cover on the cabling slot by unscrewing the screws and

then place the cables in the slots. Finally, fixing the cover back to the support.

3.3 To connect display terminal device

Please use cables provided together with the multi-screen processor to connect each output

channel on the display board with the corresponding input channel in the display terminal device.

Note:

 For the digital signal transmission is affected by many factors, including cable quality

and cable length, it is strongly recommended that user uses the manufacturer-provided

cables during system connecting.

3.4 To connect signal sources

Please use the cables provided together with the multi-screen processor to connect each RGB

input channel on RGB input board with the RGB output channel on RGB output source. Please

use the cables provided together with the multi-screen processor to connect each video input

channel on video input board with the RGB output channel on video output source. And use the

cables provided with the multi-screen processor to connect the RJ45 port on the stream video input

board and the port on the exchange machine.

Note: in some application where the RGB/video matrix is used, the RGB/video signal is first

output to matrix and then switch within the matrixes. In these cases, the matrix should be taken as

the signal output sources.。

3.5 To connect keyboard and mouse

Please connect the keyboard and mouse to the corresponding keyboard/mouse port. Note:

when connecting keyboard and mouse, please pay attention to the marks or characters that

indicating device type, thus to ensure correct connection.

3.6 To connect with network

Please use the cable provided together with the multi-screen processor to connect the RJ45

network port with the exchange system in customer’s application environment. In customer

application, the network port configuration should be decided by customer’s practical application

requirement and application environment.

3.7 To connect power supply

The power socket of the processors is located on the lower-right of the rear panel. When

connecting the processor’s power supply to the external 220V plug board or power source, please

use the cables provided with the equipment. Incorrect power cable may affect the power supply

performance and finally affect the system stability and performance.

3.8 System grounding

To protect the safety and stability of the equipment as well as the personal safety of the

operators, the system must be grounded correctly. Please use the special grounding conductor to

connect the grounding terminal on the equipment to the special grounding system.

Grounding point

Note: the grounding of electric and electronic product is mandatory, for safe operation and

normal system operation. Incorrect grounding affects system reliability and stability. And incorrect

system grounding will also cause signal interference. Therefore, full consideration must be given

during the equipment installation, including the grounding measure of the power supply. (For

example, use certified three-core power cable and power socket.) When installing the multi-screen

processor in high building, special and professional grounding system must be adopted for system

grounding with true earth. Incorrect system grounding has negative effect on the equipment’s

performance. There may be signal interference on the display wall which could not be removed

through adjustment. Please contact VTRON for more information about system grounding and

keep perfect system grounding during system operation.

3.9 Pre-installed software

Before delivery from the factory, Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor has already

been installed with all standard-configuration software, including Windows operation system,

various hardware drivers and application program software.

Note:

 To ensure system’s normal operating, please install and use genuine software (including

but not limited to Windows operation system).

 Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor belongs to special graphic processing

equipment. If user needs to install other application software or programs within the

multi-screen processor, please consult VTRON or the dealers, thus to obtain

corresponding technical support.

4 Usage
4.1 System power on/off

Power on

1) Ensure the general power supply of application environment is stable and normal.

2) Start the control PC (if any).

3) Turn on the display terminals.

4) Ensure the power switch on the power supply modules are set to “ON” position.

5) Open the front cover and press the power button.

The processor system automatically enters the Windows operating system after being

turned on and login, and displays the Digicom desktop on the digital display wall.

The processor uses Windows-based operating system, so its ON-interface is the same as that

of the corresponding Windows operating system. If there is any difference with what you have

ever seen, it is because the items on the desktop may be dependent on the current tasks and

desktop plan. If the task has changed, the desktop will be changed correspondingly.

Power off

1) Stop all running programs.

2) Select to turn-off the Windows system.

3) Turn off the control PC and display terminals.

4.2 Usage of monitoring panel

4.2.1 Panel description

As a sub-system in Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor, the monitoring panel

integrated in the processor’s front panel is responsible for monitoring the working status of

various hardware resources within the processor chassis, and meanwhile report the hardware

resources’ statuses in various ways, for example, through the LCD display, LED indication and

sound alarms. In case of malfunctions on these hardware resources, corresponding alarms will be

given and the event will be recorded. Through RS232 communication, the information displayed

on the LCD could be read or configured in real time. The monitoring panel features advanced

technology and reasonable layout. It has a large LCD for abundant information displaying and the

background color can be adjusted. It is one of the most important ways to know the working status

of the hardware resources within the chassis.

 LCD display

The whole LCD display has a resolution of 160×128, capable of displaying graphics and

text messages, which can be set as black and white display or blue background with white

characters. The LCD background display is designed with power-saving functions and background

lighting will be turned off while there is no operation or alarm for a certain time. Pressing any

button on the panel or any malfunction alarm will lit the LCD background display. In normal

status, the display remains in “Main” page. The display in “Main” page is divided into several

parts:

 Date/Time: To show current date and time. The date and time on the LCD display can

be adjusted by using the function buttons. Since the monitoring panel has an

independent battery, it’s not necessary to set the date and time each time the processor

system is powered on.

 Fans: The four fans within the processor chassis can be monitored. On the LCD display,

the fans are marked as FAN1, 2, 3, 4. When any fan works abnormally, its

corresponding name will be shown in white background.

 Power supply: The 2+1 true redundant power supply modules are adopted for the

processors, which are marked as POWER1, 2, 3. on the LCD display. In case of any

malfunction, the corresponding name will be shown in white background.

 Slot information: it is divided into three parts, that is SLOT, TYPE and ALARM.

SLOT is for indicating whether some slot has board installed. If some slot has no board

installed, the corresponding slot number will be shown in white background. TYPE is

for indicating the type of the board installed in the slot, which is represented with C, G,

S, R and V. (C for system control board, G for display board, S for stream video input

board, R for RGB input board and V for video input board.) ALARM for abnormality

reporting. In case of some board abnormality, a “!” is shown for that slot number. If no

abnormality reporting message, there will be no such indication. Note: Only when there

are board installed in the slot, the slot type or operation status can be detected.

 LED indicator

There are totally four LED indicators on the monitoring panel, which respectively are

POWER, FAN, TEMP and ALARM. The four indicators are all dual-color (red and green).

4.2.2 Panel operation

When the equipment is in normal operating status and with reference to the information

displayed on the LCD, user can know about the operating status in real time of the hardware

resources within the processor chassis. Generally, there is no need to operate on the panel. Only

when user needs to adjust the date/time displayed on the LCD display, clear alarms or switch

pages, the buttons on the monitoring panel will be used.

 To adjust date and time

On the LCD display, current date and time are displayed on the top of the LCD display, in the

format of “YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM”. (24-hour system is adopted for time displaying.) Since the

monitoring panel has its independent battery and the date/time are adjusted independently, the date

and time displayed here may be different from those of the processor’s operating system. And also,

the date and time are saved in the monitoring panel, there is no need to reset them each time

turning on the machine.

When adjusting the date/time, user can use the MODE and SET buttons to operate as follows:

1. Press MODE button, then the third digit of the date flashes, which means current digit

can be modified.

2. Press SET button to increase the value until the ideal value is reached.

3. Press MODE button to confirm the modification of this digit and meanwhile the next

digit flashes.

4. Operate as step 1 to 3, to modify every digit.

5. At the last digit, when MODE button is pressed, the whole process of date/time

modification is finished and the new date/time is written into the monitoring panel.

 To switch between pages

When the system is in normal operating status, it is the “Main” page being displayed. User

can press TAB button to switch the current page to “About” page. In “About” page, the

monitoring panel’s version is displayed.

 To clear alarms

Being in alarm status, signal alarm will be given out through LCD display and LED

indicators. Meanwhile, the system will also give out sound alarm. In this case, user can press

ALARMClear button to clear the alarm.

4.3 To display various signal

(1)General operations

In respect of operation, Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor can be considered as

a common workstation. And its operations are the same as those of a common workstation. Please

refer to operation instructions of Windows XP for more information.

(2)To display video signal

PVideo is the special program software for video displaying with multi-screen processor on

display wall. With this program, user can display the video signal as windows on the display wall

and these windows on the display wall can be moved, overlapped or resized freely. For detailed

description about this program, please refer to software chapter.

(3)To display RGB signal

PRgb is the special program software for RGB displaying on the display wall. With this

program, user can display RGB signal as window on the display wall and these windows on the

display wall can be moved, overlapped or resized freely. For detailed description about this

program, please refer to software chapter.

(4)To display stream video signal

PIpVideo is the special program software for stream video displaying on the display wall.

With this program, user can display stream video signal as window on the display wall and these

windows on the display wall can be moved, overlapped or resized freely. For detailed description

about this program, please refer to software chapter.

(5)To display network signal

VlinkClient is the special program software for network signal displaying on the display wall.

With this program, user can display remote network PC’s desktop signal as window on the display

wall and these windows on the display wall can be moved, overlapped or resized freely. For

detailed description about this program, please refer to software chapter.

5 Software
5.1 System service software

The system service software is a utility for checking and configuring the processor’s

hardware information. And also, as the background service of Digicom Ark1200 series

multi-screen processor, it is the necessary program running on the background for system’s normal

operation. As standard-configured software for Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor,

the system service software is installed in the multi-screen processor before delivery from the

factory and set as automatic running at system startup. After the program is run, a program icon

is shown in the taskbar.

In some special cases (for example, user select to service program or the service program is

not started automatically), user needs to select to run the program manually, that is, to double click

the executable file PowerServer.exe under the installation path (the default path is C:\Program

Files\VTRON\Digicom Server).

Right click the program icon to show a pop-up menu, which is shown as the following

menu

Here:
 ColorKey Setting: To set the ColorKey value.
 Basic Info: To check the basic information of the processor.
 Default Window Style: To set the default style of the windows opened on the display
wall.
 System Setting: To set the system parameters.

Right click the program icon in the taskbar and select the “Setting...” item from the pop-up

right-key menu. Then an authorization dialog box appears for user to enter username and

passwords.

Note:

 System configuring must be finished by those who are trained to be qualified for system

maintenance.

 The initial default username is “vtron” and password is blank (no password). To ensure

system safety, please modify the username and password.

To modify the username or password, please check the “To modify username or

passwords” checkbox in the authorization box, then click “Ok” button to show the dialog

box for modifying username and passwords.

Enter new username and password, click “OK” button to finish the operation.

After the username and passwords are correctly entered, a system information and

configuration dialog box appears as the following picture.

In this dialog box, the following items can be configured: IP address of the system control

From the pop-down menu, you may select “PCI-E desktop” or “local desktop”, and then

click “set” button to finish the desktop selection.

5.4 Network displaying software VLinkClient

VlinkClient is the special program software for network signal displaying on the display wall.

With this program, user can display remote network PC’s desktop signal as window on the display

wall and these windows on the display wall can be moved, overlapped or resized freely. If it is

supported by the server terminal, user can also use local mouse and keyboard to control the remote

PC’s desktop content.

Note: in application, the VLinkClient is used together with its server terminal (VLinkServer

or other server program). That is to say, to ensure normal displaying of remote desktop content,

the server program must be installed and running. For the purchase and operation of the server

program, please consult VTRON or the dealer.

Double click the executable file VLinkClient.exe. Then a dialog box is shown as the

following picture for user to enter the IP address of the PC where the server program is installed

and whose desktop contents need to be displayed.

Enter the IP address of the source PC’s IP address and click “OK” button to open a signal

window shown as the following picture.

display wall by defining the X and Y coordinates of the upper-left corner of the window as well as

the width and height of the window.

5.6 Display wall administration system (option)

VWAS (VTRON Wall Administration System) is the special application and management

software developed, designed and manufactured by VTRON for digital display wall system. Its

main functions are to provide means for the controls and management of various signal windows

on the display wall and also control of the display engines inside the display wall system. And also

with VWAS, the centralized and integrated control over various peripheral equipment, such as

matrixes, camera and multi-functional devices, can be easily realized.

Main functions of VWAS:

 To control the multi-screen processor, and operate the relevant windows and applications on

the multi-screen processor;

 To realize the orderly batch operation on the engine window, multi-screen processor window

and multi-screen processor applications through the preset mode and sequence (you can

customize the operation modes and sequences according to the actual situations);

 To realize the joint control on the relevant peripherals, such as the matrix, camera,

multi-screen device, and image splitter;

 To provide functional module and device expansion and support the development of the third

party;

 To provide software registration and hierarchical control of users (users that log on the

system in different roles or different levels have different functions and authorities).

6 Maintenance

Safety Cautions !
Carefully read and observe the following safety regulations before and in daily

maintenance and necessary troubleshooting. It is very important for protecting your personal

safety and preventing the equipment from damage.

1. The daily maintenance and necessary troubleshooting must be carried out by trained

and qualified personnel.

2. Always observe the prescriptive turning on/off steps. Illegal operation should be

avoided.

3. Always check that the system is turned off and the system AC power cord is

unplugged from the AC power source before disconnecting or reconnecting any

electrical part of the system.

4. Always check that processor and all equipment connected to it have and keep

perfect system grounding before maintenance and troubleshooting.

5. Do not open the top cover of the processor. No user serviceable parts inside.

6. Keep away from corrosive chemical gas, materia medica and the material of

combustible and explosive.

7. Do not alter or add any part to the mechanical or electrical design of the system

equipment. Otherwise, the all subsequent hazardous results brought about are not

the responsibility of the manufacturer.

6.1 Daily maintenance

1. The control room or the hall where the digital display wall system is installed must be

kept dust-free, dry and well ventilated.

2. Operation temperature: 0℃ - 40℃

Relative humidity: 20% - 90%, non-condensing

3. Always keep the equipment in clear appearance and do not use any coarse or abrasive

cleaners.

4. Do not place anything in or over the ventilation openings and slots. Especially, care

must be given to keep the equipment away from corrosive chemical gas, materia medica

and the material of combustible and explosive.

6.2 Routine check

(1) Check whether the power is normal and stable before turning on the processor.

(2) Check monthly the grounding system.

(3) Check monthly the cable and connector conditions.

(4) In case of not in frequent use, power on for one or two hours every week. In the moist

season, it is strongly recommended to do this more than one time per day.

6.3 The replacement of modules

6.3.1 Hot-swappable modules

 In Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor, the following modules support

hot-swapping: power module, fan, RGB input board, video input board, stream video input

board, display board and system control board.

 During replacing hot-swappable modules, user can operate while the machine is still

powered and running. But the following processing must be strictly followed.

 For modules that don’t support hot-swapping, please turn off the power supply first.

 Except in some special cases, it is not recommended to replace the system control board by

hot-swapping. This is because during the hot-swapping, the system dispatching function can

not be fulfilled and there will be not displaying on the display wall.

6.3.1 To replace fan module

1)Unscrew the fixing screws.

2)Take out the fan.

3)Insert a fan back into the fan rack and note to connector is plugged into the socket.

4)Fix the screws.

Note:

 To ensure system cooling effect, please ensure there are at least three fans working

simultaneously, that is, only one fan can be replaced at the same time.

6.3.2 To replace power module

1)Ensure the power module is switch off.

2)Unscrew the fixing screws.

3)Hold the handle and drag out slightly the power module.

4)Hold the module with both hands as the following picture shows and take the module out

from the rack.

5)Ensure the power switch of module to be installed is set to OFF position.

6)Hold the module with both hands and insert it into the holding rack. Push it slightly into

the rack. Note the connector is plugged into the holder socket.

7)Fix the screws.

7)Set the power switch on the module to ON position.

Note:

 To ensure system power supplying, only one module can be replaced at the same time.

 Before pull out and plug in the power module, please not the position of the power modules

6.3.3 To replace hard disk

1)Hold the lock of the movable hard-disk box.

2)Pull on the lock and unlock the box.

3)Holding the lock bar and pull out the hard disk a little. The hold the hard disk with both

hands and take it out carefully.

4)Insert a spare movable hard-disk box (with hard disk in it) into the holding rack and note

the connector is plugged into the holding rack’s socket.

5)Lock the locking bar.

Note: the hard disk does not support hot-swapping function. Therefore, power should

be cut off before replacing the hard disk.

6.3.4 To replace boards

1) Take up the pull-handle at both ends of the board..

Note: For display card, after the upper pull-handle is taken up, the hot-swapping

mechanism is activated and the hot-swapping indicator is flashing. Then, user can take

up the lower pull-handle. But other boards do not need to activate the hot-swapping

mechanism; therefore, the two pull-handles can be taken up at the same time.

2) Hold the handle and take out the board a little.

3) With reference to the following, hold the bottom of the board with one hand and hold

the back of the board with another hand. Take out the card slowly and steadily.

4)Hold the spare board as the above picture shows and insert carefully the board into the slot.

During operation, please note the slot number at upper and lower of the chassis and

ensure the board being inserted into the same slot.

5)Push the board along the guiding slot and note lock the pull-handles with the chassis.

6.4 System warning information and logs

6.4.1 LCD monitoring panel information

As a sub-system in Digicom Ark1200 series multi-screen processor, the monitoring panel

integrated in the processor’s front panel is responsible for monitoring the working status of

various hardware resources within the processor chassis, and meanwhile report the hardware

resources’ statuses in various ways, for example, through the LCD display, LED indication and

sound alarms. In case of malfunctions on these hardware resources, corresponding alarms will be

given and the event will be recorded. Through RS232 communication, the information displayed

on the LCD could be read or configured in real time. The monitoring panel features advanced

technology and reasonable layout. It has a large LCD for abundant information displaying and the

background color can be adjusted. It is one of the most important ways to know the working status

of the hardware resources within the chassis.

Pease refer to chapter 4.2 for detailed introduction about this monitoring panel.

6.4.2 Status indicator on boards

Besides the monitoring panel in the front of the chassis, user can also know the working

status of the boards through the status indicators on the boards.

The signal input board has two indicators, that is, RUN and ALARM.

The meaning of these indicators are:


Indicator Color Description
Board working status indication. When the board works
RUN Green
normally and data being transferred, this indicator is flashing.
Board working status indication.. When the board works
ALARM Red
abnormally, this indicator is flashing.
After the upper handle is being taken up, this indicator is
HOTPLUG Red
flashing.

The RJ45 port on the stream video input board and system control board has only one indicator

and when there is network data transmission, this indicator is flashing.

6.4.3 Warning/event logs viewing

To diagnoses the problem in case of system abnormality and judge the cause, Digicom

Ark1200 series multi-screen is designed with fault automatic reporting mechanism for each board.

If necessary, user can check these logs. There are two ways for checking these logs: from the

system service program and from the the third-part management software (for example, VWAS).

6.5 Troubleshooting

1,After power button is pressed, system has no response

Possible causes:

1. The general power switch is not turned on.

2. The power supply does not meet the requirements.

3. The switch on power supply module is not set to ON.

4. Other unknown causes.

Solutions

1. Check whether the general switch is turned on.

2. Check the power supply to ensure the power supply is normal and stable.

Note: Please ensure the power supply of the application environment conforms to the

specifications. Otherwise, not only equipment performance is affected, personal safety of the

operator is not guaranteed.

3. Set the switch on power module to ON position.

4. If the problem remains unresolved, please contract VTRON or the dealer.

2,The power supply is normal, but after power button is pressed, there is not image

displaying and also no alarm is given.

Possible causes:

1. The display terminal is not turned on.

2. The signal cables are not properly connected.

3. The movable hard disk box is not locked.

4. Windows operation system is not started.

5. Other unknown causes.

Solutions

1. Check whether the power switch of the display terminal is set to ON.

2. Check whether the cable connection is OK.

3. Check the locking bar on the movable hard disk box.

4. If the problem remains unresolved, please contract VTRON or the dealer.

3,Keyboard or mouse does not work

Possible cause

1. Not the original keyboard or mouse are used.

2. The extension mouse/keyboard problem.

3. Mouse/keyboard is faulty.

4. Misconnection between keyboard and mouse cable.

5. Other unknown causes.

Solutions

1. Replace the keyboard with the original ones.

2. Check the extension cable. If necessary, remove the extension cable and connect the

mouse/keyboard directly to the port on multi-screen processor.

3. Replace the faulty mouse/keyboard with those of the same model and contact VTRON or the

dealer.

4. If the above problem remains unresolved, please contact VTRON or the dealer.

4,Image color abnormality

Possible causes

1. Improper cable connection or unsound grounding.

2. Signal cable quality.

3. Signal display properties are not well adjusted.

4. Display terminal problem.

5. Other unknown causes.

Solutions

1. Check the cable connection and grounding system.

2. Check the signal output devices to ensure the signal output quality is OK.

3. Re-adjust the image displaying properties. If possible, use the previously-saved properties.

4. Check the display terminals. If necessary, user can connect the signal source directly to the

display terminal or an independent display device, thus to make sure whether it is the signal

output quality problem.

5. If the above problem remains unresolved, please contact VTRON or the dealer.

5,There is no image displaying in the window on the display wall.

Possible causes:

1. Cable connection is not good.

2. Check whether the input channel selection is correct.

3. Display terminal is with problem.

4. Other unknown causes.

Solutions:

1. Check the cable connection or network communication status.

2. Check the physical connection of the selected channel.

3. Referring to the above method, judge whether it is the problem of the display terminal.

4. Close the application program and restart it.

Restart Windows operation system and run the application program.

5. If the above problem remains unresolved, please contact VTRON or the dealer.

6,PVlink displaying is not fluent

Possible causes:

1. Network speed does not support.

2. Too many windows opened on the display wall.

3. Other unknown causes.

Solutions:

1. Please check the network communication status and if necessary, please replace the exchange

device with a new one.

2. Close unnecessary windows (especially the RGB windows).

3. If the above problem remains unresolved, please contact VTRON or the dealer.

7,Image is flashing

Possible causes:

1. Cable connection is not OK.

2. Refresh rate of the multi-screen processor is set too low.

Solutions:

1. Check the cable connection.

2. Set the refresh rate to its proper value.

3. Remove and re-install the hardware drivers, then set the refresh rate to its proper value.

4. If the above problem remains unresolved, please contact VTRON or the dealer.
