The Typewriter

Gun company Remington is the first to sell the new and improved typewriter. The

typewriter was invented in 1878, the original cost was $60-$100 but now it's $75-$700.

The typewriter was also used up till late 1970s and early 1980s before computers

outdated them. It was invented by Christopher Lathan and Carlos Glidden. Christopher

was born February 14,1819 and worked as a news paper editor. Then on February 17,

1890 at the age of 71 he died. Carlos only helped by give ideas towards the typewriter

during the making.The invention of the typewriter made writing faster and easier, and

helped evolve today's writing technology.

Life had a big change after the typewriter was made it went from difficult for some to

easy for all to write. There was many types of ways to write before the typewriter.Before

the typewriter people used paper and ink, they wrote with paint, they also used knifes

and wood.

Just like writing there are many types of typewriters.

There were many different types of typewriters all with there own purposes.The types

of typewriters are,standard, portable, noiseless, electric, variable, automatic and

electric. Those are the main 7 typewriters mostly used.“The different types of

typewriters are one of the machines,which is used in all business

thing that we kept till today.

Not only did typewriters make writing easier it helped make new technology.The new

technology was the QWERTY keyboard.After the QWERTY keyboard was made it was

the only type of keyboard that we still use today.“the QWERTY layout is attributed to an

American inventor named Christopher Latham Sholes “The QWERTY was one of the

Since 1878 the typewriter helped evolve today's society and writing. It made life easier

not only for business but for all people. We used to write with paper and ink and wood

and stone with knifes. After that the typewriter was invented to make writing easier and

faster for all. Because of the typewriter we have the keyboard we all love and use today,

also gave us the keyboard QWERTY that we all use and love today. Even though it was

outdated by early 1980s it will forever be a remembered in invention history.
