Course Description
A basic course that focuses on the technological
developments allowing learners to:
• gain a broad understanding of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) in education
and how ICT is changing and will change the
world's education systems in line with
international standards.
• learn to plan for change and to be a change agent
and learn to be a leader in ICT to enhance and
transform learning .
The course is balanced between theory and practice.

Aims of this course:
Improving education through appropriate use of ICT is
a unifying theme in this course.
This will attained by:
• Differentiating between educational technology and
technology in education
• Increasing teachers’ knowledge and understanding of
various roles of ICT in curriculum, content,
instruction, and assessment.
• Increasing teachers attention to roles of ICT as an aid
in solving complex problems and accomplishing
complex tasks in all curriculum areas.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will acquiring the following outcomes:


L1: Recognize the positive impact of Edu. Tech on learners’
motivation, engagement, learning and achievement.
L2: Integrate tools of educational technology in their lesson plans
in a creative and an efficient way.
L3: Use educational technology in designing their lesson plans.
L4: Choose the appropriate educational technology tool to serve
the achievement of different groups of learners according to their
learning needs and characteristics.
L4: Use the features of some educational technology programs
and teaching/learning materials in teaching specific subjects.

learning. (Shan-fu, 2013).

with the internet, it also includes radio,
telephone and all of other communication

What is the ICT status in the
Lebanese Secondary schools?
• Appropriate use of ICT cannot be achieved
unless educators diagnose barrier of its
appropriate and effective use

• In spite many initiatives at the MEHE


level to integrate ICT in Lebanese
Secondary schools the Status is still fuzzy
(Mo’dad, 2012, Yehya et al., 2018)

secondary physics teachers:

• 54% of physics teachers claimed:


“No ICT vision in their schools”
in spite of 72% revealed
principals’ supportiveness
• Linear available percentage of
ICT did not exceed 22%;
[Internet access (43.3%
available)] but not in the physics
class room (20.6% available)
• Simulations (39.7% available)
• Most of ICT are not available:
(9.2% Google app), (11.3%E- Lebanese schools did not
assessment tools ), ….
provide physics teachers with

• 63.4% of the total number
of physics teachers never
use ICT tools in their
learning process and
11.78% rarely use ICT
(few times per year).
• Total average of the mean
of the use of ICT tools in
physics courses was (M=
1.79)

ICT implementation level by secondary teachers was very


low.
Teachers’ attitudes towards the use of
ICT
• The teacher is key to the success of any initiatives to the
effective implementation of the ICT educational technology in
the educational system. Teacher effectiveness depends mainly
on the teachers’ attitude
• Teachers’ attitude has a great effect on ICT integration in
classrooms

What is the overall profile of teachers’
attitude towards ICT implementation?

• Unfortunately, 81.6% of the teachers revealed


their wish to use more technology, but they lack
for necessary training to use it to the best
advantage.
• More than 45% of respondents asked for
government’s potential in promoting technology
because governments’ dereliction frustrate
teachers and reduce confidence in the importance
of technology
