I Background of the Company
a. History
- During the 1950s, the then-President Carlos Garcie pushed for a larger Filipino role in the
country's economic activities. Among the numerous Filipino entrepreneurs whose
business or companies flourished in this time was Eugenio Lopez Sr., A businessman
who would soon establish a business that would later on be named First Philippine
Holdings Corporation.
Eugeio Lopez graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1919 with an AB
Degree, Cum Laude, he later studied law in the University of the Philippines. After
passing the bar exams, he underwent a year of post-graduate in law at Harvard
University.
First Philippines Holdings Corporation was registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commision on June 30, 1961. The company's principal activities up to the present day;
consist of investments in real and personal properties including, but not limited to shares
of stocks, notes, securities and entities in the power generation, real estate development,
manufacturing and construction services, and other industries.
b. Vision/Mission
MISSION
- First Philippine Holdings remains committed to lending our strength and expertise
toward the causes of education, safety, and disaster recovery; poverty alleviation
and culture; and environmental responsibility, recognizing that our businesses
flourish best when the communities we operate in flourish as well.
VISION
- We, as employees of the Lopzer group of companies, believe that our primary
reason for being is to serve God and the Filipino people
Thus, we shall always conduct ourselves in a manager that is mindful of the long-
term mutual benefit of the Lopez Group, and the various publics we serve.
We will be responsible stewards of all of our resources, and conscious of our
obligation to present and future generations.
Since 1928, and in the years and generations to follow, our commitment to the
distinctive Lopez values will not change as we remain committed to service our
stakeholders.

- Social Obligations
- Oscal M. Lopez Center was established in 2021. with the goal of supporting the
generation of science and technology needed for developing resilient
communities. OML Center is the result of the Lopez family’s advocacy of
environmental protection and service. This program aims to provide the tools and
information needed for research and finding solutions to make sustainable climate
action, risk management decisions, and strategic networks. The center was built
upon the belief that every Filipino can face these climate change challenges by
providing state of the art science and technology.
- First Philec will launch a new green and environmentally friendly transformer
made from 100% recyclable and biodegradable materials. The new transformer
models will use an insulating coolant from natural ester. A vegetable based and
non-polluting oil product, these are renewable and sustainable crop grown seeds.
The launch of the new transformers will help power distributors bring down loss
and reduce carbon footprint on the planet. This is also a way of turning the world
into a greener and safer place to live in.
- EDC president and COO Richard Tanoco, would proceed to fund the
development of geothermal projects this 2021. Geothermal power is the most
ideal source of sustainable and renewable energy. As it can provide reliable,
stable, and low carbon based power. With the development of geothermal power
that requires lush forest for steam recharge. EDC will launch the BINHI first
restoration program to bring back the various threatened Philippine native tree
species. Protecting and flourishing the country’s forestry.
- First Gen Hydro Power Corp. provided financial support worth 33 Million to help
the local government of Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija. With the support of FG
Hydro, the town can not complete the town's water supply and distribution
system. Upon signing the agreement on Oct. 8,2020, the town officials of
Pantabangan formalize the company's commitment to the water service project.
Other projects of Patabagan LGU have so far been funded by a share from FG
Hydro 1-94 remittances includes the rehabilitation of the municipal electric
system of the town.
