Course Description:
I. This is two credit-hours course that aims to educate students about the fundamentals of ethics
and to inculcate ethical values in order to understand today’s multi-cultural and pluralistic
world.
II. The main focus of this subject is to inculcate remarkable ethical values in the personalities of
the students and make them able to apply their knowledge in all sphere of life generally and
in the profession of Engineering and Natural Sciences particularly.
III. Purpose is to develop their skills of effective dealing with their clients and organizations and
try to motivate them to be world-class Muslim professional.
Students will be engaged to learn and practice these concepts in order to become a better and finer
human being who could play a positive character to create superior moral atmosphere around them.
Students will write and present project proposals and oral reporting in formal contexts. Some
practical activities will also be incorporated to bridge up theory and practice. A portion of the
course deals with formal group discussions on different topics in order to ensure interactive session
and participation of all students

Grading Policy:
Quiz Policy: The quizzes will be announced and students will be given nearly 20 minutes for each

Assignment Policy: In order to develop comprehensive understanding of the subject, assignments will
be given. Late assignments will not be accepted / graded. All assignments will count towards the total
(No ‘best-of’ policy). The students are advised to do the assignment themselves. Copying of
assignments is highly discouraged and violations will be dealt seriously by referring any occurrences to
the disciplinary committee. The questions in the assignment are meant to be challenging to give
students confidence and extensive knowledge about the subject matter and enable them to prepare for
the exams.
Plagiarism: AU maintains a zero tolerance policy towards plagiarism. While collaboration in this
course is highly encouraged, you must ensure that you do not claim other people’s work/ ideas as your
own. Plagiarism occurs when the words, ideas, assertions, theories, figures, images, programming
codes of others are presented as your own work. You must cite and acknowledge all sources of
information in your assignments. Failing to comply with the AU plagiarism policy will lead to strict
penalties including zero marks in assignments and referral to the academic coordination office for
disciplinary action.
