By:
1.0 Documentation, Certification and Performance Data
Review the manufacturer’s documentation, equipment data & specification.
1.1
Check that all relevant instruction manuals, workshop manuals and spare parts
manuals are available in the rig office.
COMMENT:
1.2

2.0 Mechanical Installation Verification

GENERAL
Ensure all relevant personal protection equipment and procedural requirements
have been satisfied prior to accessing the equipment. This may include, but is
2.1 not limited to, lock-out/tag-out, ventilation, work permits and safety barriers.
Check the installation of the Drawworks skid on the substructure. Verify that
2.2 there is no stress induced on the skid due to uneven base & skid surfaces.
2.3 Check that the Gear box oil.
2.4 Check all hydraulic, water and pneumatic pipe installations and fittings.
2.5 Verify that the brake HPU pressures are correct.

2.6 Check that the coupling are installed as per the MFG Spec and filled with
lubricant and grease point sign in place
3.0 Electrical Installation Verification
GENERAL
3.1 Inspect the motor connections for the main drive motors and blowers.
3.2 Verify that all cables are sufficiently protected against damage.
3.3 Check that AC Motor locks out switches have been installed.
Check that all openings in the junction box for each AC motor have been used or
3.4 properly plugged back.
3.5 Verify that AC motors of Dwks have spark arrestors installed

4.0 Performance Acceptance Testing

Drilling line on the drum.

Verify that the Draw works has been prepared for operation and that the oil
4.1
level is correct and all services are connected.
4.2 Check that the brake pad clearances are correct.
4.3 Check the gear box oil pressure is correct.
4.4 Check that the Draw works controls are set in normal operations position.
Verify all auxiliary supplies are available and the parameters are correct
 Dwks blowers running.
4.5
 Dwks lube pump running and pressure normal.
 Draw works brake HPU running and the pressure is correct.
4.6 Verify the operation of the draw works speed control.
4.7 Check and record the brake HPU pressures. 1200psi
Assign the Dwks “A” motor and advance the throttle in the hoist direction.
4.8 Check that the drum turns in the correct direction and that speed control is
working correctly.
4.9 Assign the Dwks “B” motor and repeat line. 4.8
4.10 Assign both motors and run Dwks with two motors.

4.11 Switch off both Draw works motors and verify that all auxiliaries stop.
Test the EMERGENCY STOP: Assign both AC motors and run the Draw works
at slow speed. Press the emergency stop button and verify:
 the main and emergency callipers are engaged
4.12
 the auxiliary supplies are stopped
 Verify if the AC motors will get isolated in the VFD
COMMENT :

Reset the E stop and assign the Draw works as normal. Verify all alarm
4.13
messages are cleared.
5.0 ACCEPTANCE METHOD

Test all alarms:

 Isolate each blower in turn. Verify that if the Draw works motors are
running then they are stopped and an alarm is generated.
5.1  If the motors are not assigned then verify that loss of blowers
inhibits the main motor start.
 Isolate the lube pump motor and note the alarm.
 Isolate each brake HPU motor in turn and check the alarms.
Set up the upper and lower limits for the Draw works: Kinetic Energy Monitoring
system - KEMS
5.2
 Enter the upper slow and stop limits.
 Enter the floor reference.
Set the lower and upper limits and run the Draw works in hoist position. Verify
that the theoretical height detected by the shaft encoders will slow the drum
5.3 on the first upper limit and stop on the second.
Test the operation of the crown-o-matic by manually tripping the operator while
running the Drawworks.
Test the lower limit setting. In this mode, the Draw works will be given a full
speed lowering command and at the point that the shaft encoder detects the set
5.4 point; the Draw works will be decelerated and stopped at the correct height
above the rotary. (For this test, mark the drum and verify that the drum is slowed
and stopped in the same area).
Carry out simulated tripping with one of the brake HPU motors isolated.
5.5 Verify that the system pressure is not depleted. Check both pumps.
Isolate both pumps and check that the accumulator volume is sufficient to allow a
controlled stop of the Draw works.
Check that the Draw works cannot be assigned if the brake HPU pressure is
5.6
below the set point.
Check the deadline anchor clamp and the load cell gap.
5.7 Comment:

5.8 Test the hook speed and position displays by actual measurement.
Disable one of the shaft encoders and verify that a mismatch alarm is generated.
5.9
The draw works should stop due to lack of information

Run Draw works raising and lowering travelling block assembly, each time
increasing speed until full speed is reached. Closely monitor drill line spooling in
5.10
and out on Draw works drum. Closely check for proper clearances of drill line
against derrick structure.
