SUBJECT: UPGRADING OF INTERNET CONNECTION (FROM SHARED

BANDWIDTH TO DEDICATED BANDWIDTH) AND INSTALLATION
OF INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT OF THE
BFP REGIONAL OFFICE 1

DATE: 18 June 2020

1. References:

a. Attached letter from Mr. Jefferson P. Corpuz, Globe Account

Manager re: Proposed Plan for the Upgrading of Internet of BFP
Regional Office 1 dated 17 June 2020; and

b. BFP-DICTM project re: the installation of communication network

and IT equipment at BFP Regional Office 1.

2. In this connection, this office would like to request for the Internet Upgrading
of the BFP Regional Office 1 (from shared bandwidth to dedicated bandwidth) with the
corresponding fund of Forty-Six Thousand Pesos (₱ 46,000.00) every month and
Twenty Thousand Pesos (₱ 20,000.00) for the one-time charge/installation fee.

3. The proposed internet plan from “Shared Bandwidth” into “Dedicated

Bandwidth” via Microwave Radio Transmission (see attached plan). From the
existing bandwidth of 5-10MBPS will be upgraded to 40MBPS. Bandwidth refers to the
volume of data that can be sent at one time through a computer network or Internet
connection. The greater the amount of bandwidth, the more data can be transmitted
through it at a given time, resulting in a faster connection. The comparison between
shared bandwidth and dedicated bandwidth was determined as follows:

a. On the existing shared Internet connection of this office, all bandwidth is

splited among all users and devices. Download and upload speed on a
shared package are “up to” a particular limit. If traffic on the shared
bandwidth is light, users will experience faster download speed. If all users

are on the network streaming video or uploading large files, speed will
decrease.

b. While the proposed dedicated bandwidth, this office is the only subscriber
to a specified amount of bandwidth and have access to more reliable
services, like having stable download and upload speed, with no slowness
due to normal peak usage periods. There is also no limit on the amount of
data that can be transferred.

4. If the proposed internet upgrading will be approved, the newly installed IT

equipment intended for centralized internet/LAN/CCTV system of the BFP-RO1 building
which was projected/funded by BFP NHQ (see attached pictures) will be activated.

5. Hence, the herein request for upgrading of internet (from shared bandwidth to
dedicated bandwidth) is recommended to be essential if to optimize the management of
network operations, quality assurance and future proof operations for the Regional
Office 1 and the operating units.

6. Further, the undersigned respectfully follow-up the installation of Wifi-

Network, PABX, Telephone Terminals, Managed Switch, Firewall, and Server of BFP-
RO1 Building wherein these communication network and IT equipment were included in
the project of BFP-DICTM.

7. For information, consideration and approval.
