Technical Descriptions and Process Analysis
Define Technical Descriptions-Piece by piece descriptions of a tool, mechanism or piece of equipment.

Types of Technical Descriptions

 Operations Manuals-Operations manuals help the end user put together or service a product,
and determine the uses of its components, it may also help identify any missing parts.
 Product Demand Specifications-These are written for products that do not currently exist and
must fit very specific requirements.
 Study Reports Provided by Consulting Firms-A descriptive analysis report of a problem and a
fitting solution.
 Construction Design-Construction Designs (legal technical description of the property limits) are
required before building for a plethora of reasons including, clarifying the design, presentations
and any requests that may arise,
 Sales Literature-A description of a product or service in order to market towards more people
and make more money is called sales literature.

Definition of Process Analysis-A process analysis is like an instruction however it explains how
something works as opposed to how to do something, such as how metal detectors work.

Examples of Process Analysis-A problem of what type of bridge to use is presented to you and you must
present which options are available and how each ones works.

Criteria for Writing Technical Descriptions and Process Analyses

 Title-A precise title must preface a description and could include the name of the item or service
you are describing or analyzing.
 Overall Organization-In the introduction include a definition of the topic and its function as well
as a list of parts. In the discussion, describe each component and how things work, focusing on
details, words and organization. Your conclusion should adequately conclude our writing,
depending on your topic,
 Highlighting Techniques-Use various drawing, charts, highlights, etc. to bring focus to various
parts of your work.
