Technical Descriptions and Process Analyses

Define Technical Descriptions: Part by part description of the components of a mechanism, tool,
or piece of equipment.

Types of Technical Descriptions


 Operations Manuals: Usually will come with any tool, equipment, or mechanism giving
the explanation on how to and maintain/service.
 Product Demand Specifications: When needing something that doesn’t currently exist,
they write a product demand specifying the exacts needs for the product.
 Study Reports Provided by Consulting Firms: Companies hire firms to study a problem
and provide a descriptive analysis.
 Construction Design: Before any building, they need a design to go off which contains
written text and graphics. Which is used for presentations of designs to audiences.
 Sales Literature: Improve sales by giving brief descriptions or applicable uses of what is
being sold.

Definition of Process Analysis: Like instructions, gives a step-by-step explanation of how a


process works.

Examples of Process Analyses: Engineering for presentations on how their bridge they’re
building works. Automotive sales for explaining how the vehicle works for the customer.
Biomedical technology for explanation

Criteria for Writing Technical Descriptions and Process Analyses: Specific criteria for writing
technical descriptions and process analyses
 Title: Preface document with a title precisely stating the topic.
 Overall Organization: Use logical sequence when adding descriptions and clear word
usage comprehendible to people that may not understand the topic fully. Then
adequately give details of everything as much as you can to give the audience proper
understanding.
 Highlighting Techniques: Use highlighting to list important documents or key points of
your work.

sexist, and offensive with achieving the best quality outcome per the audience.
