Understand that a young child’s vocabulary is developing, as well as understanding
the things around them.

3. Materials/Equipment:
The Book, Moo, Baa, La La La!
Various Plastic animals.

4. Teaching:
A. Gather children around in reading circle.
Read the book, showing pictures and reiterating the animal sounds

B. Bring out the plastic animals and ask if anyone knows what this is? What sound
does it make?

5. Closure:
As children this age tend to have short attention spans, I would go to each child
throughout the day, maybe at snack or lunch time, and ask if they remember what a
cow says, etc.
