2. Objectives:
Help students to understand uniqueness and self expression.

3. Materials/Equipment:
The Book, Marisol MacDonald Doesn’t Match; various art supplies, such as pipe
cleaners, feathers, jewels, google eyes, Styrofoam cups and glue.

4. Teaching:
A. Read Marisol MacDonald Doesn’t Match. Talk about Uniqueness, self
expression and what that can look like.

B. Invite the children to create a creature using the Styrofoam cups and the art
supplies. Guide where needed, such as how to poke a feather in the cup, but
otherwise, stand back and let the children create.

5. Closure:
Conclude that we are all different and that we all have our own way of showing it.
We talk differently, we express ourselves differently, create differently. Tomorrow,
we will try to find another way to express ourselves, because we ARE different.
Try and think about it, and we will talk about it.
