1. Introduction

Developing strong teams-based in the workplace has become more important for
organisations last days. It is evident how an effective team can help an organisation to

achieve incredible results like gains in productivity, innovation and responsiveness to

customer needs. There are some conditions that makes a team effective. Establishing
clear objectives, appropriate leadership, commitment to the team and a supportive team
climate are some of them.

This report will describe a reflection on the achievements of the team goals and an
improvement plan in order to develop team cohesion and facilitating teamwork for the
proposed e-commerce strategy for Apparel Brands Pty Ltd Company.

2. Case Study

Apparel Brands, founded in 1901, is an Australian based manufacturer and distributor of

generic clothing and footwear. The company takes orders from retailers and supplies
retailers with clothing products that have been manufactured to retailers’ specifications.
These clothing products are then sold to consumers under the retailers’ various brands.

Recently, Apparel Brands has found its market share in decline due to a strong Australian
dollar and increased overseas competition. In addition, labour costs are eating into profit
margins. Trends in the Australian textile industry suggest that the company, although it is
in a strong financial position now, will struggle to make a profit within two years.

Company vision: In the next five years, Apparel Brands will establish a range of
innovative and exciting online clothing brands and help secure a future for Australian
clothing manufacturing.

3.3 Consider possible processes for resolution of team issues. For example,
you may consider leading a brainstorming session, or creating an issues
matrix.

Group dynamics are unconscious or psychological forces, that influence behaviour and
performance in a team. They are created by the nature of work or different personalities
within the team. Sometimes these dynamics can disrupt work and affect the goals
performance.

The process for resolution our teams issues was having a brainstorming session where as
a leader I promoted and highlighted the importance of listening as a key piece of
communication the best way for the team to show they are really listening is being
attentive, repeating information by paraphrasing the information and revising and
questioning if there is anything not clear.

To motivate members who are not totally engaged It is important to talk with them and find
out what are the real reasons of demotivation and taking on them more challenging and

3.5 Prepare to take notes on issues and solutions and any unresolved issues

As leader, always in a meeting and personal conversation, I try to be aware about the
issues that could be occurring with my team members. I always carry a notebook where I
dispose all the important comments that my team give me. Every single day I ask them
about what issues they are facing and how can I support them.

4.3 Encouraging team members to contribute to meeting

As a leader, I have to encourage my team members to participate in all meetings and the
role that I want they perform. As a result of that, I set rules for all the meeting that we will
have. The rules include that every single team member has to participate actively in the
meetings. For me, the collaborators empowerment and show that their opinion is important
is vital in order to achieve the project goals. Even after their meeting is done, they are
invited to continue to contribute. If this is in relation to how to improve staff meetings, the
ownership factor is huge in making it feel like an equal opportunity meeting.

4.4 Playing Roles to resolve Team Issues

As I said before, the collaborators empowerment is important in order to achieve the
project goals. I always try to delegate some key activities with each member team and
also offer my support if they need help in possible issues. Also I give them the autonomy
to take decisions and I encourage them that they feel that they are leaders in their role and
they have all resources for overcoming any drawback that could occur.

4.5 Performance Problems and Proposed Solutions

After the first performance feedback we found that as a team we were facing some issues,
affecting the developing of the main objectives. It is key to inform to the team in a face to
face meeting the performance expectations and expected outcomes in order to encourage
them to keep on track to achieve their goals. Providing coaching sessions the team will
feel supported, they will feel competent and they will learn some value teamwork skills. In
addition encourage positive attitudes, remaining calm, allowing everyone to contribute to
discussion.

4.6 Working with issues during the meeting

It is totally normal that team members feel anxious or defensiveness about the meeting.
During the meeting can arise other problems, that requires transparent communication
where every team member express their points of views, then as a team we can find
agreement and provide effective guidance.
