2. Introduction
Tangential highway of Fossano is located in SS231-Tangenziale di Fossano (CN). The several spans
of the bridge are shown in the figure below.
Identifying the locations of the spans is to detect whether there is any pollutant industry in the vicinity
of the bridge. Presence of the pollutant is important to identify air quality of the area. The air quality of
the area is to evaluate corrosion rate of the steel in atmospheric exposure.
As it can be seen, close to Viad Cussanio, there are some factories. Therefore, the area could not be
considered as rural area, rather the area should be considered as industrial with possible pollutant
emission such as SO2, Cl-, etc. these two elements are needed for the corrosion rate calculation. They
are airborne elements which have considerable effect on the corrosion rate.
