Scope Overview
The content is to execute a project that faces the challenge of making a military parade
and reception for almost 9000 soldiers that have served in Iraq; where the main
limitations are the short time and economic conditions; Another limiting factor is the help
from the city council.
As positive factors, we have the high degree of commitment of the different committees,
the different communication channels between them and with the members of the local
government; In addition, the great support of the community and local media is
important.
Business Case
Through the joint work of multiple active members of the Colorado springs community,
we will plan an event using the necessary project management techniques, in order to
celebrate the welcome of the soldiers that have been deployed in Iraq. In addition, if we
maximize the resources provided by the city council of Colorado Springs, we can hold
an event, which we hope will be remembered as a great celebration, which includes
catering to thousands of people, who with their service deserve to be exalted.

Part II
1. Budget: Using either a Microsoft Word Table or an Excel Spreadsheet, create a detailed budget for
this project. The numbers you use for this budget should be realistic. For example, if you are going
to have to rent folding chairs, conduct some research and find out how much that would cost. If you
have to contract a cleaning crew, research various companies that do this and use those numbers.
You will be graded on your knowledge of the subject, not the accuracy of the numbers. Your budget
must include at least 10 items that you will have to pay for.
2. Work Breakdown Structure. Using Exhibits 6.4, 6.5 and 6.6 on pages 152-153 as an example, create a
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for this parade. Your WBS should include but not be limited to:
Planning, Transportation, Food, Entertainment and Clean Up. You can use Word, Excel or PowerPoint
to create this diagram.
(Remember, references must be in alphabetical order and have a hanging indent. You
must provide no less than 3 credible references)
