PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SPECIFICATION AND SCOPE
A. Descriptive WORK
1. For design and general performance requirements, refer to Division 01 of the specification. Specific
performance requirements are provided in each trade Section.
2. Complete the Detailed Design, manufacture, supply, install and warrant the WORK whilst complying
with the visual intent indicated on the Lead Details and criteria stated in the specification.
3. Where no material, product or supplier is indicated in the specification, propose suitable materials
and systems prior to CONTRACT award which comply with the visual intent and performance criteria
stated and remain fully responsible for the Detailed Design of the WORK.
4. Where a particular material, product or supplier is indicated in the specification, such material,
product or supplier shall be deemed indicative representing the LREDC's design intent only. The
CONTRACTOR may complete the installation using that product, or such other confirmed as
acceptable by the LREDC in writing, but shall remain fully responsible for the Detailed Design and
performance of the WORK.
B. Scope of WORK
C. This Section of the specification, when read in conjunction with the Lead Details, provides particular
requirements with respect to the WORK, which include the following:

D. Particular Interfaces
1. Complete the Detailed Design of all interfaces with adjoining trades prior to commencement of
manufacture.

1.3 SUBMITTALS

a. Provide tender submittals in accordance with the requirements of Division 01 of the
specification.
b. Submit a design response with the Tender proposal, to include all profiles of typical conditions,
with dimensions.
c. The Tender design response shall include:

2.2 MATERIALS
A. General
B. The LREDC will not accept any brand names on any products or items of equipment to be visible in the
finished WORK.
C. Sustainable Design
1. Sealants shall comply with the testing and product requirements of the Standard Method for the
Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using
Environmental Chambers, of authorities having jurisdiction.
a. Sealant shall have a VOC content as stated in the GSAS section of Division 01.
D. Generally
1. All vitreous ware shall be fired vitreous chinaware of the best quality, non-absorbent and burned so
that the whole mass is thoroughly fused and vitrified, producing a material, consistent in colour,
which when fractured shall show a homogeneous mass, close grained and free from pores.
2. The glazing of vitreous china fixtures shall be thoroughly fused and unitised to the body, without
discolouration, chips or flaws, and shall be free from craze. Warped or otherwise imperfect fixtures
shall not be accepted.
3. One manufacturer shall supply all fixtures, unless specified otherwise.

F. Refer to Section 055000 of the specification.
G. Sealant Pointing
H. Sealant pointing (at joints between appliance/ fitting and substrate) shall be silicone based sealant in
accordance with Section 079200 of the specification. Colour shall be 'White' or to complement the adjacent
appliance/ fitting or as agreed.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 WORKMANSHIP
A. General
1. Appliances and accessories shall be so assembled and fixed that surfaces designed to falls drain
as intended.
2. Non-ferrous or stainless steel fastenings shall be used unless otherwise specified.
3. Jointing and bedding compounds recommended in writing by the manufacturers of the appliances,
accessories and pipes being jointed or bedded shall be used.
4. Appliances shall not be used for any purpose until Practical Completion.
5. On Practical Completion, protective coverings, tapes shall be removed and appliances checked for
damage and defects. They shall be tested for satisfactory operation and all damaged or defective
components/ accessories replaced. The whole installation shall be thoroughly cleaned.
6. Noggings and bearers required to support sanitary appliances and fittings shall be accurately
positioned, securely fixed and concealed from view.
7. Sealant application shall be as Section 079200 of the specification.
B. Appliances
1. WC seats and lids shall be stable when raised and capable of remaining in a vertical position.
2. Cisterns:

a. Cistern operating components to be as recommended by the cistern manufacturer. The ball
valve shall match pressure of water supply.
b. A cistern shall be fixed at the height recommended by the manufacturer unless otherwise
specified or shown on the Lead Details.
c. The overflow pipe shall be fixed to falls and located to give visible warning of discharge. Agree
the position with the LREDC where not shown on the Lead Details.
3. Taps shall be fixed securely, making a watertight seal with the appliance.
4. Wastes/ Overflows shall be bedded in waterproof jointing compound and fixed with a resilient washer
between appliance and backnut.

B. The Qatar construction specification (QCS 2014) shall form the basis of the project specification.
The technical specification is supplemental to QCS (latest revision) and should be read in
conjunction with QCS and all other contract documents. In case of contradiction or discrepancy
between QCS and technical specifications, CONTRACTOR shall incorporate whichever is more
stringent.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine roughing-in of water supply and sanitary drainage and vent piping systems to verify
actual locations of piping connections before water-closet installation.

B. Examine walls and floors for suitable conditions where water closets will be installed.
C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Water-Closet Installation:
1. Install level and plumb according to roughing-in drawings.

2. Install floor-mounted water closets on bowl-to-drain connecting fitting attachments to
piping or building substrate.
3. Install accessible, wall-mounted water closets at mounting height for handicapped/elderly,
according to ICC/ANSI A117.1.
B. Support Installation:
1. Install supports, affixed to building substrate, for floor-mounted, back-outlet water closets.
2. Use carrier supports with waste-fitting assembly and seal.
3. Install floor-mounted, back-outlet water closets attached to building floor substrate, onto
waste-fitting seals; and attach to support.
4. Install wall-mounted, back-outlet water-closet supports with waste-fitting assembly and
waste-fitting seals; and affix to building substrate.
C. Install toilet seats on water closets.
D. Wall Flange and Escutcheon Installation:
1. Install wall flanges or escutcheons at piping wall penetrations in exposed, finished

locations and within cabinets and millwork.
2. Install deep-pattern escutcheons if required to conceal protruding fittings.
3. Comply with escutcheon requirements specified in Section 22 05 18 "Escutcheons for
Plumbing Piping."
E. Joint Sealing:
1. Seal joints between water closets and walls and floors using sanitary-type, one-part,
mildew-resistant silicone sealant.
2. Match sealant colour to water-closet colour.
3. Comply with sealant requirements specified in Section 07 92 00 "Joint Sealants."
3.3 CONNECTIONS
A. Connect water closets with water supplies and soil, waste, and vent piping. Use size fittings
required to match water closets.
B. Comply with water piping requirements specified in Section 22 11 16 "Domestic Water Piping."
C. Comply with soil and waste piping requirements specified in Section 22 13 16 "Sanitary Waste
and Vent Piping."
D. Where installing piping adjacent to water closets, allow space for service and maintenance.

3.4 ADJUSTING
A. Operate and adjust water closets and controls. Replace damaged and malfunctioning water
closets, fittings, and controls.
B. Install fresh batteries in battery-powered, electronic-sensor mechanisms.

Insulation."
3.3 CONNECTIONS
A. Connect fixtures with water supplies, stops, and risers, and with traps, soil, waste, and vent
piping. Use size fittings required to match fixtures.

1.4 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS

HANDLING AND FIXING CAUTION

Take care when handling and fixing this product. Exposed edges of the stainless steel, including tap holes, upstand, overflows and
wastes etc. may cause harm if handled without due caution. When using the fixing clips supplied with inset sinks avoid touching
the two prongs on the area of the clip that grips the underside of the worktop.
TO THE STOCKIST
Please store products in a cool, dry area.
Sinks should, where possible be stood on their ends supported by battens with the bowl uppermost.
If sinks are nested with bowls inside one another, place some dry cushioning material between them to protect the surfaces.
TO THE INSTALLER
DO handle with care to avoid scuffs and scratches during installation.
DO check that edges of sinks are dead level so that water will flow off the draining board.
DO NOT over-tighten plumbing or other mechanical fixtures.
DO NOT remove the plastic protective film applied to certain products until all installation work has been completed.
DO NOT stand/kneel on the drainer of sinks.
DO NOT drop mortar, plaster or similar substances onto the stainless steel.
TO THE USER
Stainless steel will give you a lifetime of trouble free use as long as you follow a few simple rules. If it appears to mark, don’t
worry, it is usually not the steel, but something deposited on it, which has caused the apparent stain.
DO - wash the product before use.
DO - clean the product regularly, using JIF, Goddard’s, or similar recommended cleaners. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions
carefully. Always rinse well with clean water and dry the surface with a soft cloth.
DO - use nylon or bristle brushes, not metal scrapers or wire brushes to loosen stubborn stains.
Never use wire wool pads, as they can scratch the steel.
DO - take care when handling sharp objects as they can scratch the surface of the steel. Any scratches will blend together over a
period of time and become less noticeable with age. There is no detriment to the corrosion resistance or general performance of
the material.
DO NOT - allow undiluted bleach to remain in contact with stainless steel (remember dishwasher powders, sterilising agents and
similar products all contain chlorides). Black pit marks can result and permanent damage can be caused. Dilute to manufacturer’s
instructions and always rinse with clean water.
DO NOT - soak clothes in bleach solutions for long periods. Always rinse bowl with clean water after use.
DO NOT - leave such substances as Mortar, Grouting cement, soldering flux, photographic developing fluids, silver dip, denture
liquids or food acids on the surface of the steel. Clean immediately and rinse well with clean water.
DO NOT - allow corrosive foodstuffs, such as fruit juices, damp salt, vinegar, mustards, pickles and mayonnaise to remain on the
surface of the steel for long periods. Wash and rinse away.
DO NOT - let hard water cause a build-up of lime or chalk deposits which can sometimes be seen as a greyish film. Clean regularly
with recommended cleaners to avoid this problem and always wipe dry with a soft cloth.
DO NOT - worry if the steel appears to rust. Usually it’s deposits of wire wool scouring pads, plumbers swarf, particles from
rusting storage tanks or other deposits on the surface which can be cleaned and rinsed away following your usual cleaning
procedure. Bases of washing up bowls can harbour such deposits – check regularly.
DO NOT - use coarse grit cleaners or wire wool pads when cleaning the steel. They will scratch the surface.
DO NOT - leave carbon steel objects such as bottle openers, scissors, whisks and other kitchen objects standing on the surface for
long periods, they can rust and leave marks.

SANITIZING URINAL BLOCKS

The use of these products must be done with the knowledge that they can in some instances react with other cleaning
agents or on their own and cause scarring of the surface of the stainless steel. It is advisable to move them around the
channel frequently to reduce their effect on one concentrated area.

the hands are removed or after 60 seconds continuous work (antivandalic shut off). The air comes out by a lineal system of holes that assure an efficient distribution of the air. The motor voltage/frequency is 220-
