How to program baofeng uv-5r for police scanner

The pork radio operator's budget is being reduced, and I find Baofeng radios very attractive. It is a low-cost dual portable wireless band that has all the features that I want and need without taking a small loan from the bank. I first received baofeng UV-5R for some sales that I have made over the last few
months in working for, and was able to quickly program the local repeater in it and test it. Are you trying to use your UV5R baofeng as a police scanner? Find great deals on police scanners in scanner and SAVE! Baofeng comparison chart. Baofeng programming: USB cable or keyboard input I do not
fully understand what the problem with programming them by the keyboard, although others have reported having problems in doing so. I watched one video on YouTube and was able to go from that point with no problems. There are some steps that do not seem logical, such as the need for a program in
transmission and receiving a frequency for each memory channel after setting the offset to negative or positive in the setting, but remember that the Baofeng UV-5R radios were not designed to serve pork radio even though it is perfectly legal for use for amateur radio. If you find that the best way to
program baofeng UV-5RE is to drive a screwdriver through it with a hammer, you probably do it wrong. Click here to get a big deal on the USB programming cable for your Baofeng Radio! The radio reset from the factory default setting the first thing you're going to do is reset the radio to erase any
memory channels that might be programmed in. You can do this by pressing the MENU button on the keyboard and then press 40 to access this setting. Then press the menu again to change the setting to reset all and press menu again, and everything will be reset. My radio now speaks Chinese once
you reset all the setting and erase any memory channels that may be programmed in, you will notice that the radio now speaks you in Chinese. Don't panic, this is easily fixed as well. Just click on the list and number 14. Then press the menu and press the arrow up to change it either to turn off or even
one more to ENG which is English. I find sound claims a little useful to remind me to press the menu button again to confirm the changing setting. Otherwise I forget and go out without confirming the change. Another Baofeng UV-5R with different packaging now what do I do now that you have reset the
radio and change the audio wave to English or turn it off altogether, you must change the pace of the steps so that you can program at your favorite frequencies. I personally like to set it to 5.0K but if you only use the important 10.0K radio is fine. If you are still in menu mode just pay the #1 number will
take you to a step. When you get this setting press the MENU button again to change the setting, then use The arrow keys up and down to change it to the desired setting. After you change the setting, don't forget to pay menu again to save the setting. Well, we've worked through all this hard work, and
now you're finally ready for the program in your favorite repeater. Make sure you're in frequency mode again by pressing the Orange VFO/MR button as well as you're on top frequency on the dual screen, which is Freq A and dial in your favorite repeater or another frequency in the radio. Return to the
menu now that you have a programmed frequency so it's time to go back to the MENU system and set up your CTCSS tone if necessary as well as your displacement. To set up the tone just press the MENU button and then enter the number #13 will take you directly to T-CTCS which is the ctcs tone
transfer. Press the MENU button again and either enter the ringtone directly with the keyboard or you can navigate through all available tones to find the tone you need. After you find the desired tone make sure you push the MENU back to set it as your CTCSS policy. You then want to go to offset, which
is the number #25 or SFT-D in the menu system. Be sure to push the list and set the NEG offset (-) or point of sale (+). If you use simplex simply leave it off. Next your go-to want to go to menu item #26 and set the offset to 00.600 l and important radio rins. Well, I've changed all the settings, and now what
they believe or don't believe, they haven't been through just yet. Now comes the step where you can program the settings in the memory channel. Go to menu item #27 for memory channel, push MENU again to change the setting and then navigate through what memory channel you want to set up. After
making a decision just push the MENU back to set that up your memory channel. Baofeng UV-5R with 3800 high capacity battery pack. Your average radio is not OK, and now that you have entered all the information, you can push EXIT out of the MENU system, then pay VFO/MR to go to memory
channels. You go to the key until your radio, and no offset !!! This is one of the classy features of this radio and makes it a little difficult for people to program. It seems that these wireless devices were not actually designed to use pork radio, it does not automatically put in the transmission frequency even
after the offset is set in the MENU system. You now have to return to frequency mode by pressing the VFO/MR button and dialing the INPUT frequency for the repeater you want to use. Why was the radio setting this way I don't know, but this is one of the peculiarities of baofeng UV-5R radio and why
most people choose USB programming cable. So put in the repeater input frequency, return to MENU mode and then push #27 for the memory channel you want and then push the MENU and go to the same memory channel that you've programmed in before. In my case MEM CH #1 was with a
repeater at 146.760 and a input frequency of 146.160. Wow, that's easy. So maybe it's really not easy to program baofeng UV 5R radio. Be sure to explain why sales of programming cables have risen, and CHiRP is so popular. I'm just a cheap pork radio operator and don't want to spend $5.99 on a cable
that goes from the RS-232 port from my computer to the radio. Surely I can build it myself, which will be much more in the spirit of important radio and build things yourself. If you're not familiar with doing searches with Google and knowing how to do things or new to Pork Radio, then I would recommend
spending a few extra dollars either to buy a programming cable or build one yourself. I admit that I had to watch a video on YouTube on how Baofeng software, if it wasn't for me then the issue of putting in the transmission frequency might stowe with me as well. So, as a quick review here are the steps
again. Turn the radio on GO to the menu item #40 and reset the radio menu item #14 either for English sound or sound off exit press on the Orange VFO/MR button keyboard to go to frequency mode and program in repeater-frequency press MENU and then push #1 to the frequency direction. 10K to use
pork repeater. Pay #13 to CTCSS on send for repeater use. Pay #25 for a repeating shift. The options are neg (-) POS (+) or turn off to simplex item #26 to use a repeater off #27. Well, it's not really that simple, but it's something you should know how to do. If you still want uv5R Baofeng programming

Those annoying Bafeng batteries that baofeng UV-5R radio is right for you another guest by Travis Noonan. The bio-author below. Photo credit. We've
said that before, communication is one of the most important factors to consider when packing your bug out of the bag. Emergency communications are often crucial when disasters occur, as we saw recently when Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas: cellular networks get overloaded and become
unavailable, Failed, internet connections go dark. This means you need a suitable emergency radio Baofeng UV-5R radio important emergency i've covered one of the most popular important radio on the market previously: Baofeng UV-5R. Read our full Baofeng UV-5R review and walk though in this
tutorial. It's water resistant and reasonably reliable. It has enough battery life to provide emergency communications for several days, even weeks with an extended battery. Most importantly, they will give you access to a full range of emergency frequencies, which we give low down on the day! Amateur
important radio disclaimer, or amateur radio, requires an operator's license to broadcast under normal circumstances (you do not need a license to receive transmission or listen in). Sending with an important radio without a license (and an invitation mark) is a federal offense. Easy rest: In times of
disaster, enforcement is usually invalidated. These rules are in place for a reason though the airwaves can become overcrowded. It's a good idea to learn it and the right protocol. Learn how to get your radio license in this tutorial. Again, we do not recommend referring to any of the channels or frequencies
mentioned in this guide without a license unless you are in a real emergency, in which case it is acceptable to do so. Make programming easier you can program your radio with CHIRP. A special USB programming cable is required. This one works great, has the right chipset. $24Amazon avoid cheap
knockoffs. There was a done thing and it didn't work. You can also download a largely improved version of the owners' operating guide here. How to introduce a basic emergency frequency: You can use UV-5R almost immediately. It takes a moment to turn it on and set up a primary frequency or basic channel to send and receive.
Because this is probably the first time you use radio, let's go over the basic setting first. Reset/zero off the radio to set up the radio, ensuring the battery pack is cut to the back of the transceiver. Thread the antenna on the antenna's position and pull it. Turn on the radio by rotating the storage handle
clockwise. You will click, the radio will be twice, after which the state voice will place the frequency or channel mode. Tip: You must zero out (reset) the radio to its default settings to make sure there are no pre-programmed settings that may interfere with emergency communications: press MENU. Use the
arrows up and down on the keyboard to go to the 40 menu option. Click on the list again to select ALL. Click on the list a third time to determine the source?. Click on MENU for the fourth time to reset the radio. Select your favorite language and the radio will reset it and default to a Chinese voice. To
select your favorite language: Click menu. Go to the 14 option list. Click MENU again to select the language. Use arrows to locate ENG for English (or your preferred language). Click MENU again to confirm the language selection. End. Use UV-5R as an FM radio and the simplest UV-5R function behaves
like FM radio for your favorite stations. This is useful during disasters, when information and emergency broadcasts are broadcast through local radio stations. To enable FM mode, just press the orange CALL button on the radio size. Clear every available station by pressing repeatedly on */scan key.
Enter, save, and use the emergency frequency you can enter a frequency and start receiving and moving simply by typing the appropriate numbers on the keyboard. For example, writing at 162.400 will key you in noaa weather broadcast. Writing at 151.940 will key you in the most common national
emergency channel. We want to program some emergency channels so we don't remember all the numbers for every frequency we might use. To save the frequency and make a new channel: press vFO/MR to put the radio in frequency mode (VFO). Press the A/B button to select Frequency. Note the
arrow on the left of the frequency on the screen, with the selection indicated. All programming must be done using the upper frequency. Turn off TDR/Dual Standby (you must be off but confirm it). Click on the list. Press 7. Click on MENU to select the menu option. Use the arrows up and down to select
off. Click on the list to confirm. End. Type the frequency you want to save using the keyboard. Click on the list. Go to option 27. Press MENU again to enter the channel selection. Select the desired channel (000 to 127) by pressing the arrows up and down. We recommend starting from Channel 1, then 2,
and so on. If the CH-in channel number is in front of it, this channel already has a saved frequency. Press MENU to save the frequency on the selected channel. End. You can now select the saved frequency by pressing vFO/MR to select channel mode, then pressing the arrows up and down. Radio will
cycle through all channels' saved frequencies. While in channel mode, the screen will display two saved frequencies, and the channel is saved on each frequency. Deleting a saved frequency/channel delete frequency or channel is easier: click on the menu. Go to option 28. Click on MENU to enter the
channel selection. Select the channel/frequency you want to delete. Click MENU again to delete it. End. Search for active frequencies and transmissions you may find yourself in a disaster situation with no known frequencies or channels. If this happens, you can use UV-5R to capture emergency
communications using it to clear the airwaves: press vFO/MR and make sure the radio is in frequency mode. The radio will quickly scan the frequencies and stop when the transmission is heard. To set the number of frequencies that the radio jumps with each scan, press MENU. Go to option 1: STEP.
Click MENU to enter step selection. Use the arrows up and down to increase or decrease the amount of the step. The minimum step (2.5K) is slower and more comprehensive search. 50K is faster and less comprehensive frequency search. Radio change (VHF or UHF) baofeng works in two bands: ultra-
high and ultra-high-frequency. Only one of the two bars can be monitored and used simultaneously. To switch between strips: Press MENU. Go to option 33: BAND. Press MENU again to enter scoping. Use the up and down arrows to select VHF or UHF. Click MENU again to confirm. End. Tip: Many
emergency RF, police, EMS, government agencies, and VHF band rescue operations. CTCSS and DCS (private line or PL connections) sometimes, a single wireless frequency will be used to send and receive by many operators. This is particularly likely in a disaster scenario. many first responders and
command centers and rescue operations will commit to one frequency to Stable communications. But in order to separate all operators on a single frequency from each other (and avoid transmission sharing and airwaves crowding), two possible systems of chromatic frequencies are used. These tonal
frequency systems are called CTCSS (continuous ton-coded crushing system) and DCS (digital code Squelch). Both systems work pretty much the same, except for digital DCS. CTCSS contains 50 universal tones measured in Hz (67.0 Hz) DCS has 105 universal tones measured digitally (D023N) to get
a better understanding of this, and consider the wireless phone and cellular network it is working on. Think of the same frequency as the network, the tone of CTCSS or DCS as the phone number. You must be on the network to send or receive, but you must also dial the correct number to call (CTCSS or
DCS). There are universal pre-programmed tones integrated into UV-5R for both systems. You must know the frequency tone in the question used, in order to transmit. How to program CTCSS and DCS to frequency/channel for the CTCSS tone program or DCS at a frequency that requires it (and save it
on the channel): press the VFO/MR and put the radio into channel mode. Make sure you're on Channel A by pressing A/B. Type in the frequency you want to save. Click on the list. Go to options 10 and 12 to set the DCS send and reception tone. Go to option 11 and 13 select ctcs send and receive tone.
Press MENU again to select the right option. Use the arrow keys up and roll to select the appropriate DCS or CTCS to send and receive ringtones. In options 10 and 12, or 11 and 13. Click on MENU to confirm your choice of each. Go to option 27 to store frequency and DCS or CTCS tones sent and
received to a channel. End. Now, the frequency that you save should be only on the screen with either DCS or CT to the left. How to program important repeater radios can only travel certain distances directly, usually a few miles. Repeaters work like send-off sending points, moving from one repeater to
the next, expanding your connection range. This is incredibly useful in the event of disaster because it allows you to reach much larger distances. Some retransmission devices allow transmissions to reach thousands of miles. Repeating programming and sending on its frequency, you'll need to know
some information about the same repeater: * frequency frequency * Shift (+or -) * Offset * R-CTCS or R-DCS (rarely) T-CTCS or T-DCS some repeaters use different tonal frequency systems that are not CTCS or DCS, or none at all. These other systems cannot be programmed in UV-5R. It is not included
in this guide. For repeater: Press VFO/MR and put the radio in channel mode. Make sure you're on Channel A by clicking On A/B. Type in frequency for the repeater you want to save. List. Go to option 10 or 11 to enter R-DCS or R-CTCS (if any). Go to option 12 to 13 to enter T-CTCS or T-DCS. Go to
option 25: SFT-D. Set the positive or negative shift for CTCS/DCS (provided). Go to option 26: Offset. Set the appropriate offset (provided based on the range). Go to option 27 and save your repeater in a channel. End. Now, in channel mode, you can select a duplicate channel and move on a repeater in
question. Useful emergency radio frequencies now you have a basic understanding and can program and use UV-5R. Here are some useful emergency radio frequencies used throughout the country: NOAA weather broadcast frequencies: 162.4000 MHz 162.4250 MHz 162.4500 MHz 162.4750 MHz
162.4750 MHz 1 Hz 62.5000 MHz 162.5250 MHz 162.550 MHz Family Radio Service (FRS/GMRS): FRS/GMRS radio frequency was adopted in 1996 for use in family communication. Today, you already know these frequencies as walkie-talkie frequencies. For the UV-5R program for GMRS/FRS, you
can download and find all frequencies here. You won't be able to type the exact frequency, so use the arrows up and down to test the frequency until you find the strongest signal. Note: Baofeng UV-5R is much stronger than the standard Oki-Toki device, especially if you have upgraded with a new
antenna or grounding. Connecting to these frequencies is likely to increase other transmission power. Keep this in mind during the disaster scenario. The globally accepted global distress frequency for any emergency radio transmission is VHF 16 (156.800 MHz). If you have absolutely no idea what
emergency frequency to try - and if the scanning does not provide any transmission - then the key in this frequency is the best option. This frequency is monitored 24 hours a day by the U.S. Coast Guard and naval personnel worldwide. If rescue operations (land or sea) attempt to provide an emergency
radio without knowledge of the channel or preparation, they will fail to do so. The two-meter range frequencies operate many local radio transmitters and retransmission devices in the 2 m range, or 144,000 MHz to 148,000 MHz. Multi-use radio/MURS emergency frequency MURS is an American VHF
radio band, not to be confused with FRS or GMRS. MURS basically fills the gap between uHF frequencies provided by FRS/GMRS, and lower frequencies used by CB radios: 151.820 – unofficial MURS frequency call 151.880 – recommended refined frequency 151.940 – emergency channel often used
preppers 154.570 – older business/commercial frequency, Still in use today 154.600 - older business / commercial frequency, still in use today other useful emergency radio frequencies 156.050 – port operations 156.350 Commercial use 156.450 - Boats connected 156.500 - General Commercial 156.700
