STARTING-UP
THE SPRAYER
13
RINSING THE SPRAYER BEFORE FIRST USE
Before using your sprayer for the first time with phytosanitary product (weedkillers,
insecticide or other product), rinse the machine completely.
- Any foreign particles which may be in the spraying circuit will thus be eliminated and there will be no risk of
them blocking the holes in the nozzles.

FUNCTIONS PUMP (figure 6)
FILLING 1
- Check that the draining orifice is closed (figure 15, page 29).
- Fill the centrifugal pump priming tank with water. To do this, draw the hexagon socket head screw (1) located
on the upper part of the pump body (figure 5).
- Filling without incorporation hopper using:
- Connect the filling pipe (T1) on the quick-fitting union (4).
- Turn all the valve handles to position 1 .
- Put the pipe (T1) into the liquid to be suck.
- Trip the switch which enables the spraying pump to be engaged.
- Engine speed should kept high enough to permit the filling operation (approximately 2,500 rpm).
When the filling operation is finished, turn valve handle (4) to horizontal position, disconnect the filling
pipe (T1), replace the plug on the quick-fitting union.
- Filling with incorporation hopper using: (see page 22)
TRANSFERRING 6
- To transfer the liquid contained into the tank to another one, proceed as follows:
- Connect the transferring pipe (T2) to the quick-fitting union (7).
- Turn all the valve handles to position 6 .
- Trip the switch which enables the spraying pump to be engaged.
- Engine speed should kept high enough to permit the filling operation (approximately 2,500 rpm).

INCORPORATION HOPPER
INCORPORATION HOPPER
- This permits introduction, during water filling of the sprayer, of powders or liquid treatment products. This
equipment gives an excellent mixing of the product with the water and makes spraying operations easier.
- After the filling operation, withdraw the pipe (T1), replace the plug on the quick-fitting union, then set the
valves at SPRAYING position (see page 24).

product.
- Electric control box off. (Motorized valves closed).
- Place all the valve handles in position 4 (figure 10).
- Warning: When using "Betanal" or other strongly foaming products, the handle of valve (1) can be partially
or completely closed, follow the arrow.
- In the 2 cases:
- Set the forward handle (P) at neutral position.
- Start the motor.
- Preparation of control box (figure 11):
- Power up the control box by raising switch (1), lamp (a) lights.
- Press the push-button (4) on handle (P).
- Set the switches (2) to the left of the control box (5).
- Program the D.P. TRONIC unit (see manual N° 82465).
OPERATION
- Increase engine speed to 2,500 rpm.
- To spray (figure 11):
- Set the switches (2) to the right of control box (5), the indicator lights (b) come on.
- Press the push-button (3) located on the forward handle.
TO STOP SPRAYING
- COMPLETE STOP:
- Press the push-button (4) on handle (P).
- PARTIAL STOP:
- Place the switch(es) (2) corresponding to the sections that you which to cut, to the left of the control
box (5).

ELECTRIC GAUGE (figure 13)
- Your sprayer is fitted with a NIVELEC electric gauge.
- Item (1), gauge mechanism, located on top of the tank.
- Item (2), electric gauge control unit. (For information on control unit operation, see notice 82.425 at the
back of the booklet in the flap).
- Item (3), power cable (12 Volts).

HEIGHT OF THE BOOM
- 50 cm to 80 cm above the surface to be treated depending on the spray angle of the nozzles and their
spacing.
- If the boom is higher, there is a risk of drift.
STIRRING
- Hydraulic stirring permite obtain the production of homogeneous mixtures in the tank, before and during the
spraying operation.
- Refer to the paragraph "Liquid stirring" (page 24) for valves positions.

PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR THE SERVICING OF YOUR SPRAYER
- By cleaning your sprayer regularly during and at the end of treatment seasons:
- you will avoid spraying chemical residues on the crops,
- you will ensure a good distribution of the product, while eliminating total or partial blockage of the nozzles,
- you will increase your sprayer's life.
Carry out the sprayer's maintenance operations with the engine switched off, the ignition
off and the power take-off disconnected.
32
MAINTENANCE AFTER OPERATION
- It is also important to rinse the sprayer on the outside as well as the tractor. This cleaning is also essential
on the same day between two applications of different products.
PROCEDURE
- Remove the filters.
- Fill the tank to 20 % full with water and add detergent (All Clear, reference 778.886, 5 liters can).
- Operate the sprayer for a short period.
- Rock the sprayer by moving forward and backward with a view to agitation water into the tank.
- Leave mixture to act for 12 to 24 hours.
- Start the agitation and moving forward and backward several times, then empty using the draining valve .
- Put some clean water into the tank.
- Unscrew a nozzle, at the end of each spraying section.
- Rinse with clean water.
- Remove all nozzles and filters, and clean them.
- Reassemble.
- See chapter "Servicing the boom" (page 72).
WINTER STORAGE
- The sprayer should be wintered in a clean condition (see above).
- Completely drain the liquid circuit, making sure that the pump is not operated too long without water (2
minutes maximum).
- Grease all mechanical parts that can be rust.
- Deoxidize the contacts on the plugs (BERTHOUD reference 765.065 the KF F2 aerosol).
- Clean the outside of the machine. Paint the mechanical parts exposed (BERTHOUD reference 769.077 for
the blue paint aerosol or 778.890 for the green paint aerosol).
- Garage the machine out of the sunlight and protected against bad weather and on flat, load-bearing ground.
33
NOZZLES OR FILTER DIRTY
- Clean and rinse dirty filter or nozzles using a brush and water.
- This is situated between the pump and the distribution unit after the regulating valve, near the motorized
valves.
- Provides additional filtration.
- The circuit must be isolated before cleaning the filter cartridge.
- Set all handles in position , (figure 17).
- To remove the filter cartridge, unscrew the cartridge (1) (figure 16) using a 27 mm spanner (not supplied with
the machine).
The filter cartridge needs to be cleaned after each application. Grease the seals.
Reminder: The original factory-fitted filter cartridge is 4/10 mesh. (8/10 mesh is available in spare
parts for liquid fertilizer).

MAINTENANCE OF PLASTIC VALVES
- After each use, rinse the pipework thoroughly, operating the machine for several minutes with clear water.
- Drain the pipework, particularly if there is a risk of frost.
- Keep the hinges on the arms, the bearing surfaces of the hinge cam and the uprights on the fixed frame
greased.
- Touch up the paintwork as necessary.

PUMP MAINTENANCE
DELTA PUMP
- Drain completely the pump, withdraw the nut (1) 2
and wait 15 minutes (frozen risk).
- Pump nose filling orifice (2) (capacity 0.1 liters).
- Level orifice (3) (oil must be level with hole edge).
- Oil drain nut (4) (drain every 200 hours).
- We recommend using:
ELF POLYTELIS 150
3 4
or
MOBIL DTE EXTRA HEAVY.
1
- FROST PROTECTION:
Fill the Delta pump with antifreeze liquid.
