If the readers don't know where or when the action is unfolding, they will be lost. Informational text doesn’t utilize characters and you can also read them in any order as it doesn’t have story elements like fiction, they do not have a beginning, middle and end. Informational text has text features, It helps the reader access the text more quickly and also offers extra detail to help readers understand the text. It helps you locate important information in a text. Knowing the purpose of the text feature helps you decide at which text feature to look when you want to understand your text better. Examples of this are photographs or illustrations, diagrams and labels. It also have keywords which are written in bold, italic or colored words in a text.
