General English Unit 9 Painting and Purse Stolen from Museum

PAINTING AND PURSE STOLEN FROM MUSEUM

Dallas – yesterday afternoon, Henrietta Riggs og Houston and an accomplice famous


robber J.J Horton also of Houston, stole a valuable painting (it is worth $250.00) from Dallas
Museum.

Riggs was carrying a large bag and was waiting for the elevator when the lights went out.
Horton was sitting in a wheelchair and pretending that he couldn’t walk. While Riggs was
waiting for the elevator, Horton got up, took the painting off wall, and put it her bag.
Riggs got on the elevator with the painting. However, the elevator door opened and
closed so fast that Horton couldn’t get on. The police arrested Horton while he was still in the
museum. They have not found Riggs yet.

A second robbery took place in the museum that afternoon. While Horton and Riggs were
stealing the painting, Charles Seng stole a purse. Seng didn’t get far. He fell and broke his leg
while he was climbing out the window. Seng told the police that he found purse while he was
walking near the museum. But the police found Seng’s fingerprints on the window and on a
brochure in the museum. The police still do not know who turned off the light.
