A brief summary of your discussion with your mentor:

My mentor and I both feel that these are important areas to my work as a Learning Strategist,
and that these skills can be developed through exposure to various situations and experiences
with students and faculty. We feel that these goals are essential to my work and that becoming
more adept in these areas will help me to better support students. We recognize that these goals
are fluent and ongoing and will instruct and inform practice throughout my career. Recognizing
the fluidity of these goals is also essential to supporting students, and understanding how these
two goals interact is also essential.

Identify two goals for continued growth in your role that you will complete by the end of this
course:

1. Student Advising, Support and Advocacy – continue to develop familiarity with the
programs at my campuses, knowledge of the various support persons involved, and
strategies to continue to advocate for student success while maintaining a relationship
of collaboration with faculty and staff.

2. Post-Secondary Acumen – develop a better understanding of the policies, procedures,

structure and guidelines governing NSCC in order to best serve students, as well as
develop a better understanding of the overall structure and function of post-secondary
institutions.
