is regular duration plus half duration. For example, a two-hour test results
in 3 hours (2 x 1.5). If you (Instructor) provide ample or unlimited time
for all students, there may be no need for a student to use this
accommodation. Test Center staff will adjust the length of time for the
test when the booking is made, otherwise, adjustments can be made
directly in Brightspace for timed tests. For in-class assignments, it may be
appropriate to arrange for the student to begin in class and submit the
work at a later time. Consider using this opportunity to discuss options
with the student.
The Learning Commons Assistant (LCA) facilitates and invigilates
accommodated tests which require the Test Centre to administer. Students
are responsible for booking their test time with the LCA. The LCA will
confirm test details with the instructor before test day. The instructor is
responsible for sending the test to the LCA as soon as possible with at least
one (1) full business day before the test.

class is being recorded for the purposes of learning. Instructors should
not disclose who is recording, or for whom the recording is being made.
If the instructor provides full and complete audio recordings of lectures
for all students, there may be no need for this accommodation.
In some cases, instructors may request that audio recording be
discontinued in classes (or portions of classes) that involve personal
discussion and self-disclosure by students. In such cases, please bring
concerns to the Learning Strategist or your Academic Chair to initiate a
recording plan in advance. All parties should be clear on which provisions
are being made well in advance of the class itself. If you have additional
concerns about in class recording, please see the Learning Strategist or
your Academic Chair.

Accommodation planning is a collaborative process. If you feel any of these accommodations are already being universally provided in your classroom, have
suggestions of how barriers could be removed in your course, disagree about the appropriateness of an accommodation, or have questions about any of the
accommodations listed above, please contact the Learning Strategist directly. For discrepancy between the Learning Strategist and the instructor on the
appropriateness of an accommodation, the decision will go to an accommodation advisory committee on campus. Suggested members may include: Instructor(s),
Academic Chair, the Manager of Student Services, the Learning Strategist, and the Manager of Accessibility Services (Central Office).
