Just Noticeable Difference is the minimal Stimulation between two products as observed by

the consumer. Otherwise we can say -"The just noticeable difference (JND) is the smallest
difference in intensity between two stimuli that a person can detect."
 The concept of JND can also be applied to marketing mix decision related to price,
promotion, packaging and product modification. For instance, if a company plans to make
any changes in its product, then the change should be gradual and below the JND, so that
the consumer is not sensitive to it and accepts the change. Even when organizations make
changes in their logos, it should preferably be gradual
FOR EXAMPLE
1.The Cadbury company has increased the price of their chocolate bars from 175Rs to 220Rs
while the packaging size stays the same (2018 to 2020).
2.Knorr noodle has increased the price from 28 to 30rupees in 2018.and in 2019 they
increase the price from 30 to 35 and now its price is 40 in 2020 they are slowly increasing
the price of the noodles so customer does notice the difference.
3.Olper milk has increased the price slowly from 100 to 150 (2018) The consumer does not
notice the difference
4. Palmolive shampoo price of 5ml is 5 rupees. they combine the three sachet of rupees 15
but they reduce the weight of shampoo 4ml combination of three shampoo is 12ml.
5. Surf Excel reduced the weight and price but they give extra 200ml shampoo so the
consumer did not notice the difference.
