HBV DNA BY REAL-TIME PCR (QUANTITATIVE)

Tests Description Result

INTERPRETATION: NOT DETECTED

VIRAL LOAD: HBV DNA Less than 150 Copies/ml

Methodologies
HBV Real Time PCR (RT-PCR) is a qualitative and quantitative technique for the detection of HBV DNA in cell free biological
specimens. It is based on three major processes including DNA Isolation from plasma /serum, Amplification and Detection
using HBV specific primers and reporter probes. In real time PCR the amplified product is detected using fluorescent dyes .
Internal control serves as an extraction and amplification control for each individually processed specimen. The real time
monitoring of fluorescence intensities during the real -time PCR allow detection of the amplified product without opening the
reaction tubes after the PCR run.
HBV DNA PCR Assay Sensitivity: 150 Copies/mL
HBV DNA PCR Assay Specificity: 99%

Comments
HBV Real TM Quantification is linear from 1.5 X 10^2 to 1 X 10^10 IU/ml. It is highly recommended, that a patient with single
negative result may not be considered not infected with HBV.
The results of HBV DNA PCR tests performed in different laboratories should not be compared because different laboratories
use different kits, have different procedures and methodologies that have different sensitivity and specificity.
