The nuclear industry is placing ads in popular magazines and newspapers claiming that
nuclear power is environmentally friendly because it doesn’t contribute to the
greenhouse effect. How do you respond to that claim?

Ans) out of many environmental resources, nuclear energy is one of the most beneficiary. It does
not release any polluting emissions such as dust or greenhouse gases. If we implement it, it will
help in reduction of misuse of fossil fuel reserves. Nuclear power doesn’t produce the carbon
oxide directly as the nuclear reactors don’t produce any kind of carbon dioxide or air pollution
during their operation. Hence, large amounts of energy is consumed by the processes for mining
and refining purposes. Nuclear energy is zero emission energy source. The power is generated
through fission which means the process of breaking the atoms of uranium in order to produce
energy. The process of fission releases the heat which creates the steam that will help the turbine
in spinning and generates the electricity by spinning without any harmful byproducts that are
emitted by the fossil fuels.
