When do we use the present perfect and when do we use the past simple?!
“I’ve been to India. It was an amazing experience! I spent 2 months travelling around the
southern part of the country. We got trains everywhere and stayed in really cheap hotels.
The food was incredible and also extremely cheap - I loved it and can’t wait to go back one
day!”
RULE 1:
TELLING A STORY ABOUT A PAST EXPERIENCE. START WITH PRESENT PERFECT
(WITH NO SPECIFIC TIME). THEN USE PAST SIMPLE TO GIVE DETAILS OF THE
STORY.
RULE 2: When you give a specific time in the past, you MUST use the past simple.
