The spread of fake news is very rampant especially in our modern society where there are

lots of platforms that exist which can be used as accessories to spread these kinds of information.

These are being disseminate and are used to influence what other believe in. It misleads and

corrupts the minds of the people who are reading it which can cause them to immediately believe

that the information that is being shared with them is authentic and because of it, there is a

tendency that will lead them to wrongfully share this to other audiences. This kind of action

plays a big part in the inflation of the speed rate of the spread of fake news.

How misinformation and disinformation related with the symbol of silhouette? According

to my understanding, the first thing that comes to my mind when I see a silhouette is the word

mystery and that it has something more beyond what the eyes can see. It only gives emphasis on

the outline of the subject and shows less visuals of what the subject is really like and what we see

might not really be the reality. These are some details that show why silhouette can be associated
with misinformation and disinformation. Another thing is that just like silhouette,

misinformation and disinformation deprive audiences from seeing the true information which are

often coated with lies. Silhouette can also be a symbol that blocks the unveiling of the truth.

According to article 10 of the human rights, freedom of speech pertains to the right to

hold your own opinions and to express them freely without interference from the government. So

what does freedom of speech has to do with the rampant spread of disinformation and

misinformation in the cyberspace platforms? We all know that different types of social media

platforms are very accessible. We often see different kinds of information that are being shared

in these platforms, may it be personal or something about the events in our society. Most of the

contents that are being shared also have a connection with public figures especially celebrities

and politicians. In the cyberspace world, there is no difficulty in sharing your thoughts about

certain issues and topics that you wish to comment on. There are a bigger number of audiences

and readers in cyberspace platforms. Information that is being shared can spread rapidly in a

matter of seconds after it has been published. In our modern society, most people are obsessed

with popularity that they can gain from cyberspace platforms. One of the cons of having freedom

of speech in the cyberspace world is that it allows people to invent erroneous information that

has the objective of attracting numerous users and believe what they have posted so that other

people will be hooked in sharing these kinds of information which will cause the post to be

trending and this can mislead a bigger number of people and cause chaos.

The widespread of misinformation and disinformation is truly a hindrance in attaining

growth. The media has to play a bigger role in making sure that they always deliver authentic

news. As for those who have access in different platforms that are open for sharing their

opinions, they should always filter what they say and post and have a sense of responsibility.
