Coaching and Mentoring During the Internship Programme

Yeasmin (2018) indicated that the amount of knowledge that one gain from an

industrial attachment or internship program generally relies upon the mentor.

During my industrial attachment, I was sure of the tremendous hypothetical

information I had assembled in school.

However, I was limited on the practical part of the profession. Nevertheless,

regardless of the restricted reasonable skill in the field, I had great confidence in

the thing I was doing. At whatever point I found an "error," I was never reluctant

to looking for an elaboration.

At some point, I was assigned a piece of the departmental task by the

departmental manager who had invested vast trust in me. I researched various

methods of solving the issue, and when I had assembled sufficient techniques, I

was completely confounded on which to choose. However, since I was resolved to

give the best, I decided to approach my manager for further enlightenment and

exhortation.

My manager tentatively listened to each approach that I introduced. He tapped my

back and adulated me for being so innovative and being solution-oriented.

Notwithstanding, he offered his guidance and two methods that he would apply in

tackling the issue. His ideas were so blazing! The methodologies he proposed

were straightforward as well as required minimal resources. That truly enthralled

me.
From that occurrence onwards, I would talk with the manager who acted as my

mentor for counsel, provided feedback based on the work completed and how

challenges and concerns are addressed. As you would expect, the outcomes were

brilliant.

There are a few unique kinds of coaches (Levin, 2011). Levin identifies that the

mentor can be a lifetime instructor, implying that the mentor can have guidance in

managing projects regarding how the mentee may best progress in their career in

the field. That was by and large what my manager was.
