I. Introduction

State universities and colleges is one of the public institutions funded by or

associated with the government. These institutions are fully subsidized by the national

government, and may be considered as corporate body. They belong to a system of

schools, and may have numerous campuses.

Each of the state universities and colleges has their own practices, teaching

methodologies, values formation and ways on developing skills of their students. To

survive in a new, globally competitive world, today’s children will need creativity,

problem-solving abilities, a passion for learning, a dedicated work ethic and lifelong

learning opportunities. This paper highlights the best curricular and instructional

practices that strengthen the school as an institution of higher learning locally and

internationally. The writer selected 5 state universities and colleges that showcase

these curricular and instructional factors.
