LESSON 1: Comparing Qualities
TOPIC: THICK & THIN

LEARNING OUTCOME:
At the end of this lesson, child will be able to

• Distinguish between thick and thin objects

• Acquainted with the terms Thick and Thin.
• Compare a few objects and identify which is thick and which is a thin object.
DESCRIBING Thick and Thin:

Step1: Bring a thick book which has more

number of pages and a thin book which has
less number of pages. Show the learners the
book and ask, “what is this?” Then explain
that the book has more pages and say
“This is a THICK book” aloud.

Step 2: Next show the learners the book

with lesser number of pages. Then say “This
is a THIN book” aloud.

Step 3: Show the learners various other objects available in the house
For example: A thick crayon and a thin crayon, a thick paint brush and a thin paint brush etc.
Explain the difference between THICK and THIN with the help of objects and pictures.

STEP 4 PULSE CHECK:

ASK:
• Place 2 roll of newspaper in front of the learner in same manner as shown in the
image below.

• Let the learner hold the objects and judge then ask the learner which one is thick,
wait for the reply.
• Ask the learner to point to the thin and wait for reply.

TASK:
• Follow the instructions given below.

Now place few markers and few sketch pens on the table. Now ask the learner to pick up
the thick colors and put them in the stand labeled as thick and thin objects in the stand
labeled as thin. Assist the learner to know the stand names frequently.
