Artist Anna Carey Looking for an intern to assist with the administration needed to showcase

work as a contemporary artist. The job requires a dedication of one work day a week (7 hours)
for 6 months. The role is for students or anyone wanting and insight into contemporary arts
practice or practical experience with arts administration. The role is unpaid but I ideally would
like to create a permanent paid role in the future if the circumstances are right. Due to the
current COVID19 restrictions the assistant will work from home and will communicate via
Zoom to meet and discuss projects and duties. On the zoom meeting I want to offer a session
of approximately 20 minutes where the intern can discuss their own practice or career goals.
The aim of this is to provide mentorship and advice based on my experience in exchange. I
want to offer this as I believe in supporting emerging artists as I received support from
mentors early in my career and it helped immensely. Location is flexible.

About Anna Carey

Anna Carey is a Los Angeles based Australian Artist who constructs photographs through
miniature fictional models. With works held in significant international collections such as the
Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Australia and Soho House Anna
Carey is well known for creating works which focus on architectural spaces as a medium to
open up an imaginative realm for the viewer. Anna graduated from the Queensland College of
Art (Australia) with first class honours and recently completed her Doctorate.

Requirements

Duties will include the following however these are subject to change as projects evolve
organically.

 Research and compile a database of gallery exhibitions, grants and prizes.

 Prepare applications which will include tasks as providing image details and resizing
images to specifications, restructuring artists statements and proposals for the specific
requirements and word limit, based on my own preexisting essays and statements.
Submitting grant applications and budgets for new projects.
 Research to find specific art materials for projects.
 Update website
 Research and development for books which includes applying for funding, getting
quotes for designers and printers, organizing packaging purchasing and shipping
process.
 Research and development for a book: find designers, packaging, printers and get
quotes, apply for grant and funding for book, gather image material for book.

Required Knowledge or interests 

 Interest in becoming a contemporary artist, arts worker or grant writer.

 Knowledge and interest in the gallery world and contemporary art.
 Studio art and/or art history background or education.
 Detail-oriented and strong written skills.
  Commitment /able to complete projects by deadline.
 Basic computer skills.
