1) Are you more of an introverted or extraverted leader? What can you do to leverage your
personality to be a more effective leader?
I would undeniably consider myself an extroverted leader. I find myself taking initiative with a
group of people and conducting tasks in a timely manner whilst keeping everyone pleased with
their duties. However, like the article mentioned, I can occasionally take too much control over a
situation or group of people. My desire to have everything run efficiently generally leads to the
negligence of smaller details concerning the task. A simple solution to this problem is to focus
more on individual issues or tasks and create a relationship with my workers so they feel that
they can openly talk to me about any questions or concerns. Additionally, I will take the time to
have one-on-one conversations and specifically work on my communication skills with both
introverts and extroverts.

2) Under what conditions do you think extraverts make more effective leaders than
introverts? What unique abilities of introverts could make them more effective in some
situations?
A. Extroverts would make for a more effective leader than introverts in a sales position in a retail
store. They would have the opportunity to leader the group of other sales people with their
confidence and great people and social skills. The other employees could see first-hand and
understand how to make a great sale as an extrovert.
B. According to the case, introverts tend to show more empathy and find one-none conversations
useful. In turn, this leads to a more successful rate for effectiveness of tasks and assignments. In
a smaller group of people, introverts would be great at conducting successful outcomes by
focusing on micro management for others rather than not knowing much detail about everyone’s
assignments.

3)The case describes some problems introverts might have in leadership situations. What
techniques might they employ to help them overcome these?
As the case mentioned, an introvert personality may become shy and uncomfortable working
with strong-minded and socially confident people like many extroverts tend to be. A technique
that could be beneficial to help overcome this problem is to have a loud and strong voice to
conduct other’s attention and interest. From there, you will convey a sense of greater assurance
and be able to jump right in to any given situation and take control of any arising comments or
feedback.
4. What types of developmental experiences do you think would be especially valuable for
introverted leaders?
A great experience that would be highly valuable to an introvert would be taking a public
speaking course. Also, I would subject two leaders (Introvert/Extrovert) for a social experiment.
I would have both personality types be equally in charge of a group of people to complete a
given task in a certain amount of time. Beforehand, they would discuss between each other what
would help them become better managers from their opposite perspectives on effectiveness.
During the experiment, they would direct the members of their group in order to get a better
understanding of what each different personality type does well and why it works for them and
their effectiveness of their leadership position. After the experiment, they could discuss pros and
cons of their observation.
