Traffic in Malang

A. Discuss these questions.


1. Which one do you prefer, going somewhere on foot or by riding
motorbike or car?
2. Do you have a bad experience related to traffic jam?
3. Do you know how Malang was in early 2000?
4. What do you think of Malang’s traffic nowadays?


Reading Passage

Skim the article. Then give commands to the following statements.

Government Should Create New Roads in Malang City


New roads should be made in the Malang city. Cars and other
vehicles had got the top of jam, and cause a lot of road deaths and other
accidents. New roads are needed by society.

Firstly, roads in Malang city are too narrow for all vehicles. The way
of route cannot break the problem; otherwise increase new problem like
what mayor did last years. Secondly, the city is very busy. Pedestrians also
need the way to walk. Beside that the way for cycler too. They don’t have

space anymore on the road.

Thirdly, Malang city is education city due to the existence of some
universities. Every year all students come to Malang to study. They also
bring their cars, motorbikes to Malang. On the other hand, the roads are the
