C. EXPLANATION

What did you notice about the game?

That’s correct! Those are example of verb.

But what kind of verb is that?

Very Good!
Both action verbs and linking verbs are applicable in
the context of the simple present tense.

Therefore, today, we will explore the concept of the

"simple present tense of a verb."

The simple present tense is employed to convey

habitual actions, current states or conditions, future
events, and general truths or established facts.

The simple present tense is used when an action is

occurring at this very moment or when it occurs on a
regular basis (which is why it's also referred to as the
present indefinite tense). The form of the simple
present tense varies depending on the subject; it can
be in its base form or have an "s" or "es" added to the ALL STUDENTS: Yes. Sir
end.

We must also ensure that there is agreement between

the subject and the verb. If the subject is singular, the
verb should be singular as well, possibly with an "s."
However, if the subject is plural, the verb should be
plural or in its base form without an "s."

Do you understand?

Let’s discuss it one by one.

1. Habitual Action - A habitual action, state, or
typical behavior is something that an
individual usually does or possesses, especially
actions or traits that are considered
representative or characteristic of them.
Habitual actions are routines or behaviors that
someone consistently engages in. They
provide insight into the daily routines and
characteristics of individuals. Turning an action
into a habit by repeating it over and over is
essentially what habitual actions are. In the
context of English grammar, the habitual
present is a verb tense used to describe
activities that occur regularly or as part of a
routine. It is often referred to as the "habitual STUDENT 4: He studies for three hours a day.
present tense." The habitual present tense :To learn, Sir
commonly uses dynamic verbs rather than
stative verbs, and it can be accompanied by
frequency adverbs such as "always,"
"frequently," or "seldom."
EXAMPLES:

- He studies for three hours a day.

Can anyone read the sentence?
Why should we study everyday?

CORRECT! ALL STUDENTS: Yes, Sir

- The teachers stayed (stay) in school the whole

day.
- His classmate’s rides (ride) in a pedicab ingoing
to school.
- Roy lives (live) in a far barangay.- ALL STUDENTS: arrived
: travelled
Do you understand now? : required
: imparted

To finish the sentence, insert the appropriate verb

tense in parenthesis.

 In the 16th century, the Spanish people

(arrive) in the Philippines.
 They (travel) by boat.
 The journey to the Philippines (require) several
months.
 They (import) knowledge about Christianity to
the Filipinos.

2. Present situations or states - The present

simple tense is employed to describe things
that are universally true or to express factual
information.
Examples:
- Smoking is a cause of cancer.
- The sun's path includes rising in the
east and setting in the west.
- Puppies possess cuteness.
- The Danube River courses through
Vienna, Austria.
