What is it?
Thymosins are small proteins
present in many animal tissues. They
are named thymosins because they
were originally isolated from the
thymus, but most are now known to
be present in many other tissues.
Thymosins have diverse biological
activities, and two in particular, have
potentially important uses in
medicine.
Its function
Its primary function is to stimulate
the production of T cells, which are
an important part of the immune
system. Thymosin also assists in the
development of B cells to plasma
cells to produce antibodies.
