II. Analysis.

3. Top three most commonly used application in Google G Suite and their main
functionalities.
3.1. Gmail.
Gmail has been around since 2004 and has reached more than 1.5 billion users at the end of
2018 ( Expanded Rambling, 2018). As a free email service, Gmail has some basic functions as
well as convenience:  
-Creating email: Easy way to compose a message is click the “compose” button on the left, users
can also attach links, files, imagines and more.
-Reply to email: To answer an email, users just simply click to “reply” button. Gmail also has a
“forward” button to send the same email without recompose again.  
- See and read email: First default screen of Gmail is a group of inbox with highlighted messages
are unread one and the “sent” bar is for sent messages.
Furthermore: Users can also re organize messages, print and download photo or document that
are attached, find email with Advanced Search, access to calendar, notes, and tasks through
Google Calendar/Keep/Tasks on the right.  
3.2. Google Drive
  With more than 800 million monthly active users and 2 trillion files stored in 2017 (Business
Insider, 2017), there’s no doubt that Google Drive is one of the most versatile cloud storage
services of G suite.
After signed up and access to "My Drive", users can upload, create or sync files and folders
from their personal devices, as well as Google Sheets, Slides and Docs. Moreover, users have the
right to control the level of visibility with other accounts, adjust permissions for folders and files
by regulate access levels.
3.3. Docs, Slides and Sheets.
These apps are group of web-based office software that are part of G suite and integrated with
Google Drive. All the apps are compatible with Microsoft Office so respectively, their main
functions are similar to Microsoft Office’s:
-Google Docs allows users composing and editing document.
-Google Slides allows users creating presentation.
-Google Sheets is a spreadsheet program that lets users create and format spreadsheets.
Furthermore, the outstanding function of these apps is allows users to create and edit files or
documents while collaborating with different users at the same time without directly face to face
others.

Microsoft Excel.

4.2.Google Spreadsheet vs. Microsoft Excel.


  In general terms of features, there’s not much difference between Excel and Google Sheets
since they both have all the basic spreadsheet features.
  Excel desktop app is famous for its rich features in comparison to others. The diversity of
function was built to store and work with complex or massive amount of data which is suitable
for the need of in-depth data analysis for large organization.
  On the other hand, even though there are not plenty of function in Sheet like Excel, Google
Sheets stands out for its excellent collaboration feature. Multiple users can work on the same
spreadsheet at once without disruption. Furthermore, Google Sheets is integrated with G suite so
users can exploit and connect data from/with other apps. Hence, due to the simplicity and
collaboration feature, Sheet would be likely suitable for students, small businesses and group
work.
