Mitel Assistant Online Help


Welcome to Mitel Assistant! The following articles describe how you can add Mitel Assistant to your
Microsoft Teams application, sign in and sign out of the MiTeam Meetings application using Mitel Assis-
tant, create or join a MiTeam meeting using Mitel Assistant, and view the list of available commands
in Mitel Assistant.

What is Mitel Assistant


With Mitel Assistant, the Mitel Bot application, integrated with Microsoft Teams, you can start a MiTeam
meeting using @mentions from any Microsoft Teams channel. You can create and join a MiTeam meeting
directly from Microsoft Teams using the Bot’s commands. The meetings created in Microsoft Teams will
appear in your My Meetings list in the MiTeam Meetings application.

Pre-requisites
• A Mitel Cloud account with a valid MiTeam Meetings subscription
• A Microsoft Teams account

System Requirements
Following are the minimum system requirements for deploying Mitel Assistant.

Adding Mitel Assistant


NOTE:
• The IT administrator of your organization can use app permission policies within Microsoft Teams to
control what apps are available to Microsoft Teams users in their organization. Therefore, if you are
not able to view or add Mitel Assistant to your Microsoft Teams application, contact your IT adminis-
trator. For more information, see the Microsoft documentation Manage app permission policies in
Microsoft Teams.
• The IT administrator of your organisation can use the app setup policies within Microsoft Teams to
control how you can customize your Microsoft Teams application. The admin can pre-install apps for
your account, control the apps you can install, choose the apps you can pin, and set the order in which
they appear in your Microsoft Teams application. Therefore, if you are not able to view or add Mitel
Assistant to your Microsoft Teams application, contact your IT administrator. For more information, see
the Microsoft documentation Manage app setup policies in Microsoft Teams.
Perform the following steps to add Mitel Assistant to your Microsoft Teams application.
1. Click Apps in the lower left corner of your Microsoft Teams application. The Apps page within Micro-
soft Teams opens.

2. Type Mitel Assistant in the Search field.

3. Click Mitel Assistant from the results panel. The app information panel opens.

– To add Mitel Assistant as an app in Microsoft Teams:


i. In the app information panel, click Add.

Mitel Assistant will be added as a menu item in the sidebar menu of your Microsoft
Teams application and you will be redirected to the Mitel Assistant Chat page.

When you add Mitel Assistant as an application within Microsoft Teams you do not have to use the
@mentions to bring up the app as you are effectively working with the app directly. However, the
commands you issue using Mitel Assistant cannot be viewed by any other Microsoft Teams contact
because the app is not added to a Team or Chat. You could use this option if you want to create a
new meeting and then share the meeting link to people who are not in any of your Teams or Chats.
– To add Mitel Assistant to a Team in Microsoft Teams

i. In the app information panel, click and from the drop-down that appears, click Add to
a team. A panel opens.

ii. Enter the name of the Team (or channel within a Team) in the Search field to which you
want to add the app. The Search field displays a list of matching Team names (and channel

names within that Team) as you type the letters. Click the name to choose that Team (or
channel within the Team).
iii. Click Set up a bot.

Mitel Assistant is added to the Team (or channel within the Team) and you will be redi-
rected to the channel page within the Team.

When you add Mitel Assistant to a Team, all the commands you issue using Mitel Assistant in a par-
ticular channel within the Team can be viewed only by the members in the same channel.

NOTE: Mitel Assistant


can be used from any channel within a Team after you add it to a Team.
You do not have to add it to every channel.
– To add Mitel Assistant to a Chat in Microsoft Teams

i. In the app information panel, click and from the drop-down that appears, click Add to
a chat. A panel opens.

ii. Enter the name of the Chat in the Search field to which you want to add the app. The Search
field displays a list of matching chat names as you type the letters. Click the name to choose
that Chat.
iii. Click Set up a bot.

Mitel Assistant is added to the Chat and you will be redirected to the Chat page.

When you add Mitel Assistant to a Chat, all the commands you issue using Mitel Assistant can be
viewed only by the contact with whom you are chatting.
NOTE: You can share the meeting links of any MiTeam meeting created using Mitel Assistant regardless
of where the Start meeting command was issued. For example, if you create a meeting in a channel
within a Team, you can copy and share the meeting link with members who are outside that Team.

Using Mitel Assistant


You can use Mitel Assistant to:
• Sign in to MiTeam Meetings
• Start a MiTeam Meeting
• View available Commands
• Sign out of MiTeam Meetings

Sign in to MiTeam Meetings


1. Select Mitel Assistant from the left navigation pane, or select a chat, or a channel from a Team that
has Mitel Assistant added to it.
2. Type @Mitel in the text area where you type a message. Mitel Assistant appears as a pop-up in
Suggestions.
NOTE: Ignore this step if you are using the Mitel Assistant app directly from your Microsoft Teams
application.

3. Click Mitel Assistant and then do either of the following to sign in to Mitel Assistant:
– Click the What can I do? dialog that pops up.

Click Sign in from the list of commands that is displayed, and press ENTER or click .

– Type sign in in the text area, and press ENTER or click .

A Sign in action card is displayed in the chat screen.

4. Click Sign in to sign in to MiTeam Meetings. A window opens, displaying the Mitel Accounts login
page. Follow Steps 2 and 3 in Log in / Log out for instructions on how to sign in to MiTeam Meetings.

5. After signing in, a message appears listing the commands that are available for you to use.

Start a MiTeam Meeting


NOTE: A user must sign in to the Mitel Assistant app to create a MiTeam meeting with the other participants
in the channel.

After signing in to MiTeam Meetings, you can create a MiTeam meeting by doing the following:
1. Select Mitel Assistant from the left navigation pane or select the chat, or the channel in which you
want to create the MiTeam meeting.
2. Type @Mitel in the text area where you type a message. Mitel Assistant appears as a pop-up in
Suggestions.
NOTE: Ignore this step if you are using the Mitel Assistant app directly from your Microsoft Teams
application.

3. Click Mitel Assistant, and then do either of the following to start a meeting:
– Click the What can I do? dialog that pops up.

Click Start meeting from the list of commands that is displayed, and press ENTER or click .

– Click the What can I do? dialog that pops up.

Click + Start meeting from the list of commands that is displayed and press ENTER or click .

In the dialog that opens, enter the name of the meeting in the Meeting name field and click Submit.

– Type Start meeting in the text area and press ENTER.

4. The meeting is created and a Join now action card is displayed in the chat screen with the meeting
details. The meeting details include the meeting name and URL, Meeting Id, and the Dial-in
numbers.

NOTE:
– The meeting will automatically appear in your My Meetings list in the MiTeam Meetings application.
– When you create a meeting in a channel, the name of the meeting will be that of the channel by
default. To modify the meeting name, type Start meeting xxxxx (meeting name) during the proce-
dure described in Step 3.
To join a meeting, do the following:
1. The members in a channel or a chat contact can click the Join now option or click the meeting link
from the action card displayed on the chat screen. The contacts who are not part of a Team or Chat
can click on the meeting invite link they received.
2. The MiTeam Meetings web application opens, displaying the Welcome page.
3. Specify the audio and video setting and click Enter now to join the meeting.

NOTE: Members or contacts can join a MiTeam meeting without signing in to Mitel Assistant.

View available Commands


1. Select Mitel Assistant from the left navigation pane, or select a chat, or a channel from a Team that
has Mitel Assistant added to it.
2. Type @Mitel in the text area where you type a message. Mitel Assistant appears as a pop-up in
Suggestions.
NOTE: Ignore this step if you are using the Mitel Assistant app directly from your Microsoft Teams
application.

3. Click Mitel Assistant, and then do either of the following to view the list of available commands:
– Click the What can I do? dialog that pops up.

Click Help from the list of commands that is displayed and press ENTER or click .

– Type Help in the text area and press ENTER or click .

A message appears listing the commands that are available for you to use.

Sign out of MiTeam Meetings


1. Select Mitel Assistant from the left navigation pane or select a channel from a Team that has Mitel
Assistant added to it.
2. Type@Mitel in the text area where you type a message. Mitel Assistant appears as a pop-up in
Suggestions.
NOTE: Ignore this step if you are using the Mitel Assistant app directly from your Microsoft Teams
application.

3. Click Mitel Assistant and then do either of the following to view the list of available commands:

– Click the What can I do? dialog that pops up.

Click Sign out from the list of commands that is displayed, and press ENTER or click .

– Type Sign out in the text area, and press ENTER or click .

You will be signed out of Mitel Assistant and MiTeam Meetings.

Removing Mitel Assistant


To remove Mitel Assistant from a Team:
1. Click the three dots icon associated with the Team.
2. From the drop down menu that opens, click Manage team. The Team information panel opens.

3. Click the Apps tab. All apps added to the Team are listed here.

4. Click associated with Mitel Assistant. Mitel Assistant is removed from the Team.
To remove Mitel Assistant from a Chat:
1. Click the three dots icon associated with the Chat.
2. From the drop down menu that opens, click Manage apps. All apps added to the Chat are listed here.

3. Click associated with Mitel Assistant. Mitel Assistant is removed from the Chat.
To remove the Mitel Assistant app from Microsoft Teams:
1. Locate the Mitel Assistant app in the sidebar menu.
2. Right-click the app icon and select the Uninstall option. Mitel Assistant is removed from Microsoft
Teams.
