FERROGOLD 301

Extra strong & tough stainless steel electrode

for joining steel to stainless steel, manganese
Steel, ideal “black” to “white” welding electrode

! High recommended for joining hard to weld steels.

! Moisture resistant coating provides sound porosity free deposit.
! Slag is self-removing.
! Versatile – for joining dissimilar steels, austenitic steels to ferritic steels,
carbon steels to stainless steels… for buffer layers and for austenitic
cladding.
! Superior weldability, even out of position.
! Good temperature & corrosion resistant.
! Superior resistance to intergranular corrosion & retaining mechanical
properties when working at high service temperature up to 1000℃

Applications:
Wherever maximum ductility is required when joining dissimilar steels to
themselves or to stainless steels, manganese steels…… also excellent as a
cushion layer in tools steel hardfacing applications where high hardness pick
up is not desired in the final overlays.

Microstructure:
Austenite with a ferrite of approx 15%.

Typical mechanical properties:

Undiluted Weld Metal Maximum Value Up to:
Tensile Strength 100,000 psi(690 N/mm²)
Yield Strength 76,000 psi(530 N/mm²)
Elongation 40%
Impact Energy 50J: 68   ℉(20℃)

Recommended current:
DC Reverse (+), or AC

Recommended amperage settings:

Diameter (mm) 2.50 3.15 4.00
Minimum Amperage 55 75 90
Maximum Amperage 75 110 140
Welding positions:
Flat, Horizontal, Vertical up, Overhead

Welding techniques
Material to be welded should be clean of all contaminants. Maintain a short arc
and use stringer beads rather than a weaves technique.
