b. Explore ways of producing sound on a variety sources that is similar to
the instruments being studied.
c. Improvise simple melodic/rhythmic accompaniment using the
improvised instruments found in the student’s home.

Before we start our discussion, I have

that is produced by different instruments. All you
have to do is to guess and name the different

Our topic for today is all about “The
Instrumental music of Luzon
(Lowlands)”.
Ok! There are different types of instrumental
music of Luzon, can you name what’s in the
powerpoint. Yes May.
The different instrumental music of
Luzon are Brass band, Rondalla,
Angklung, Musiko Bumbong and
Pangkat kawayan.

Brass band is a musical ensemble


consisting almost entirely of a standard
range of brass instruments.

Did you know class that Rondalla was originated
in Spain but became most popular in Philippine folk
music after their introduction to the islands during
the 19th century.

The word "rondalla" is from the


Spanish ronda, meaning “serenade”.

What are the instruments of Rondalla? Kindly

The instruments of Rondalla are
Octavina, Banduria, Laud, Double bass
and Guitar.

is Angklung? Everyone, kindly read.
Angklung is a musical instrument
from the Sundanese region in Western
Java, Indonesia made of a varying
number of bamboo tubes attached to a
bamboo frame.

players shaking angklungs of different

Bamboo Music, is a Filipino musical
ensemble that perform with woodwind
instruments made out of Bamboo.

are made in the shape similar to those in a Brass

Pangkat kawayan is popularly
known as the “Singing bamboo of the
Philippines”. It is an orchestra that
plays music using non-traditional
bamboo instruments.

5. Practice the melody and the improvised instruments you have chosen.
6. After you practice, take a video of yourself.
