Activity Number 1
Major Crops of the Philippines and their Geographical Distribution
Introduction
Crop production refers to the cultivation of crops for use as fiber and food. With the aim of defining best
practices for local and foreign farmers to produce more with less, the crop production community examines
agricultural practices and systems in terms of crop yield, benefit, environmental and ecological consequences.
Corn, soybean, wheat, oat, alfalfa, and forage plants, as well as apples, tomatoes, sweet corn, and other fruits and
vegetables, are among the crops being studied. Crop production, crop management techniques, integrated pest
management, crop competition, cover crops, rotations, tillage, plant nutrition, cultivar evaluation, and agroecology
are among the current projects.
Objectives
3. Compare the volume of production of the major crops in the Philippines with other countries in South East Asia
using the latest data from the internet.
