MATERIAL SPECIFICATION
ASTM A350 GRADE LF2 CLASS 1 (UNS K03011)
CARBON STEEL FORGINGS AND BARS
143-197HBW, CARBON EQUIVALENT REQUIREMENT SPECIFIED
(REFERENCE MS-021000-01 FOR MATERIAL PROCESSING AND QUALIFICATION)
Application: API 6D:24th Weld End or Non Weld End, NACE compliant
1 SCOPE
This specification defines the requirements for wrought carbon steel forgings and bars in accordance with
the latest revision of Standard Specification ASTM A350, Grade LF2, with additional requirements. All the
requirements of this specification must be met along with the requirements of ASTM A350. Where this
specification conflicts with ASTM A350, this specification shall take precedence.
Note:- ASTM A350 para 1.5 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded
separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system
may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining
values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.

2 MANUFACTURING PRACTICES
2.1 Melting Practice
The steel supplied to this specification shall be fully killed and made to a fine grain practice. It shall be
produced using one of the following primary processes:
A. Basic Oxygen Furnace;
B. Electric Furnace;
C. Vacuum Induction Melting.
The primary melting may include separate degassing or refining and may be followed by secondary
melting using Electroslag Remelting (ESR) or Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR).
The molten steel may be vacuum treated prior to or during pouring of the ingot.

3 MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Chemical Composition
The steel shall exhibit a chemical composition within the limits presented in Table 2 and the analysis shall
be made on a heat basis (or a remelt ingot basis for remelt grade materials) using a method approved in
MS-021000-01.

The sum of (Cr + Mo) shall not exceed 0.32% on heat analysis.
3
The maximum Carbon Equivalent (C.E.), based on heat analysis, shall be determined using the following
formula:
C.E. = %C + %Mn/6 + (%Cr + %Mo + %V)/5 + (%Ni + %Cu)/15
4
When vacuum carbon-deoxidation is used, the silicon content shall be 0.12 % maximum.
5
ASTM A961 tolerances added for product analysis as applicable (with maximums set by API 6D), to be
used for product analysis acceptance, when required by Cameron Purchase Order.
Elements, other than those used for grain refinement/deoxidation, not specified in Table 2 shall not be
intentionally added.
3.2 Mechanical Properties
The part(s) shall meet the following mechanical properties as demonstrated by the material qualification
requirements in MS-021000-01.
3.2.1 Tensile Properties
One tensile specimen shall be tested and shall meet the requirements presented in Table 3.
