I think the key take away from the Fires and Effects lecture is the discussion on effects.

First is
the concept of Effects as the Lethal fire supports the non-lethal effects which demoralizes and
corrodes the enemy's will to fight. The tactical, operational, and strategical application of Effects
generated really aligns with the essential of of Manoeuvre Warfare, in that, instead of destroying
and attriting enemy manpower and materiel, it intent it much more fluid. This is particularly
interesting and important since the application and synchronization of non-lethal and lethal links
the sense and act process. The identification of a target can trigger either effects, or a
combination of the two. Ultimately, the methods employed is based on the desired effects
sought within the framework of the mission. The dynamic target engagement cycle is a helpful
tool to understand and apply the different steps within the targeting process, as mentioned within
the lecture, that Exploit any opportunities arise from the previous lethal and non-lethal targeting
efforts. It is also interesting that the targeting process runs parallel to the normal operational
planning, with the targeting effort supporting to planning effort.
