I. TITLE:

PROJECT: ESPLUS
Enriching Students to obtain Outstanding Performance in Learning and Understanding

Mathematical Systems and Skills

II. RATIONALE:

Mathematics is the queen of all sciences. In the K to 12 Curriculum Guide (2013),

Mathematics is defined as one subject that encompasses life at any age, in any circumstance.

It is also added that the value goes beyond the classroom and the school. K to 12 Curriculum

Guide coincided that it is a subject that reflects life as the National Strategy stated that it has

five aspects. From the previous descriptions, the roots of Mathematics did not come from

counting and performing operations but getting that all things, whether seen or unseen, are

part of various ideas that have been constructed from creative minds. It also involves critical

and creative thinking where people could construct new knowledge and solve problems, not

only in numbers but also in life. In line with this, Sampaloc National High School targets

students who have potentials in obtaining an outstanding performance in Mathematics.

III. OBJECTIVES AND EXPECTED OUTPUT


General Objective

This project aims to help the students with potentials to enrich their knowledge and skills in

Mathematics and to produce students that will compete in Metrobank MTAP contests and

other related contests in Mathematics.

Specific Objectives

1. Determine the students who have good performance in Mathematics and other

related activities(Rubics Cube, Math Investigations, DaMath, Math Checker,

etc.)

2. Develop their knowledge and skills on their respective area of specialization.

3. Innovate mathematical instructions for the students.

4. Help the students improve their knowledge and skills through seminars and

trainings related to their mathematical ability.

5. Disseminate importance of Mathematics in real life.

6. Produce students who will compete in Math Contests.

VI. PROJECT MECHANISM

1. Determine the students who have good performance in Mathematics and other related

activities(Rubics Cube, Math Investigations, DaMath, Math Checker, etc.)

2. Attend seminars and trainings for the development of the teachers and students.

(Students’ training-MTAP)

3. Prepare modules and materials to enhance students’ skills.


4. Prepare activities for the students.

5. Organize a schedule when to teach the students regarding the topics.

6. Train and coach students regarding their skills.

7. Build a place where the students will have the tutoring session, “Math Corner” or

“Math Center”.

VII. ORAGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT

Project ESPLUSCM(Enriching Students to obtain outstanding Performance in

Learning and Understanding the Mathematical Systems and Skills) is proposed by

Mathematics Department.
