8. Project Description Rationale:

Mathematics is a multifaceted discipline. This requires higher level of

thinking skills: critical, logical, analytical and manipulative. This is the reason
why it seems to be a difficult subject for most students. In order for the
students to excel in Mathematics, they must enhance their skill in fundamental
operations and analyzing math problems.

It is also added that the value goes beyond the classroom and school.
Mathematics as a subject in school, therefore, must be learned
comprehensively and with much depth as it is mentioned in the K to 12
curriculum guides. Mathematics has a broader definition that came from
different aspects of life, and it is not just about numbers but it is all about the
world where living and non-living things live.

PROJECT PROPOSAL

In connection with these views, Mataas na Lupa Elementary School,

hopes to conduct activities that will enhance the students’ numeracy level,
skills, and interest in learning mathematics.

Our school supports the Department’s vision with pride in fostering young
minds through modest services which serve as the objective of the working
group. Hence, the school and collaboration and partnership of all stakeholders
worked together in achieving the goals set for the program. This program and
its team through vigorous involvement of stakeholders our parents and LGU’s
join with our school in satisfying their mission to produce prolific and
responsible people not only armed with vital competencies and skills for
ultimate learning but also in molding young leaders of our nation.

Two years of distance learning, lack of knowledge and interest in teaching

mathematics at home, unwise use of gadgets and poor study habits were some
of the main reasons why non-numerates learners increased. This is why the
school unceasingly supports the Program; Project ELPAM: Enhancing Learners
Performance and Abilities in Mathematics whose chief goal is to boost the
numeracy level, skills and interest of the learners in solving mathematical
problems. In order to provide to the needs of these learners, the school
applies numerous learning modalities that best suits to improve the abilities of
the learners in mathematics.

9. Objectives This project aims to:

 Promote students from non-numerates to numerates

 Remediate/Decline the difficulties of the students in all aspect of Four

Fundamental Operations and Analyzing Word Problems through
intervention materials

 Arise the interest and intrinsic motivation of the students in learning

Mathematics through intervention program

implementation of Project;
 Administration of the Pre-Test in Mathematics to assess the level of
numeracy of the learners;
 Collect, analyze and validate of the numeracy results;
 Conduct intervention activities (utilization and application of e-games in
math lessons, routine recitation of multiplication table, use of common
mathematical terms associated with the four fundamental operation,
home-activity worksheets)
 Inspire parents, learners and other stakeholders for their 100% support
in the project;
 Prepare and craft assessment tools and intervention materials in the
execution of intervention activities;
 Put up Math corner in each classroom and inside the school
surroundings;
 Invite stakeholders to be a donor of Math materials;
