ACTIVITY 1

KNOWING MYSELF AND MY PHILOSOPHY IN TEACHING

I am Cir Arnold S. Santos III, 23 currently taking Bachelor of Secondary Education

Major in Filipino. When I was in my Elementary days, I remember my teacher ask us about on

What Would we be after 10 years. And that question is still stuck on my mind. Now I know now

what would I be in 10 years from now. I always wanted to be a lawyer someday. But those dreams
are broken into pieces when my aunt said that we couldn’t afford the law school. And then I come up with the decision that I would be a teacher. I

know that being a teacher is not an easy job. And I know that choosing to be a teacher make your life miserable, Especially when dealing with the

student who are stubborn, attention seeker, aloof, shy, boastful, naughty, kind, talkative and etc. But I realize that it’s fun to teach and see your

student learn and have fun. And now I’m embracing the profession that I choose and that is to be a teacher.

All throughout my experience as a student-teacher, I have learned a lot of things from my experience. Most of the time there is a students that

will challenge you to the best of your knowledge, and there are students whom you have a closure, there are students that will love you and students

that will hate you. In preparing a lesson there’s a lot of strategies that you have to think to make the lesson easier to the learner. Everything you do or

say will make an impact to the students lives, you must be selective and very sensitive to the words that you’ll use. I have also realize that you have

to master your topic so that it is easier for the learner to understand what you are saying. I also realize that you have to think of a strategies that will

measure the students mind.

Teaching as a student-teacher in almost three months was the best experience for me, because I’ve realize that teaching is the perfect

profession for me, and teaching is my passion. Being an educator is not an easy task or job, because you need to be prepared and ready for your

lesson everyday, you have to think of a strategies that will suit your topic. It is not an easy job because you have to sleep late at night to finish your

lesson. You are the one to adjust in your students understanding, Although teaching is not easy, but in three months I enjoy it so much. Seeing my

student enjoying my teaching strategies and at the same time not knowing that they are learning. I believe that the good teacher understand the

students development and learn, knows the diversity of the student. Being with my students everyday gives me a lot of opportunity to know them and

share what I have learn. I always listen to their stories, rants, opinions and their insights on something that is related to the topic, which I can apply

and use in my teaching to help them cope easily.

I believe that the goal of education is to guide the students, help them grow and nurture their them with the knowledge I have learn. The goal

of education is to help the student gain their self confidence in terms of answering your question and give them feedback.

I believe that the foundation of teaching is respect, moral values, and self-discipline. Giving good feedback to the students will engage their

self-confident, motivating them in a positive way will pursue them to continue their good work and be more cooperative and participative.

As a Filipino teacher, I will do my best to know the students behavior. I will motivate my students whenever they answer my question and

give them a reward. I will build a nice relationship with my students. I will be the source of information and guide them to achieve their dreams. And

as a Filipino teacher I will be a role model to them.

ACTIVITY 2B Teacher’s Personality

My Cooperating Teacher, Mr Willy Rance Antigo is one of the best teacher I’ve known so far.

Honestly I was shock when I told that he is my cooperating teacher. I felt so nervous and at the

same time I'm so happy to be his student teacher. I’ve known him since 2 nd year college and I

heard a lot of good comments on him. When I first met him when I was 2 nd year in college, my

first impression to him is that he is so funny and at the same time he is very good in teaching.
Although he looks scary at the very first of our meeting but in the end we have fun. And in that case I notice him as an effective teacher because he

makes the lesson to be fun. I am very grateful that he is my Cooperating Teacher because I’ve learn a lot to him. Mr. Willy Rance Antigo has a strong

personality with a good heart. He is very approachable. He is not just a teacher to all of his students but also a second father who gives pieces of

advice and motivates his students. Somehow there we’re times that he integrate joke that is connected to his lesson to avoid boredom in teaching the

topic.

In my first week of being a student teacher, my cooperating teacher, Mr. Will Rance Antigo, he allowed me to feel the environment inside the

classroom and gave a chance to know the students diversity and personality. After that he let me introduce myself at the class and getting to know the

students. The following days he let me handle his students without giving assistance. He encourage me to do my best and be who I am when I’m

teaching. He always told me that I am the one who impart knowledge to my students. He told me to make my own strategy that will make my

students enjoy the lesson not knowing that they are learning.

Sir Antigo is very creative and strategic person. He always use a different strategy that the students will enjoy and learn at the same time. He

manages his classroom and always has control of his students. He is very authoritative and at the same time sweet and caring to all of his students.

Activity 3-B:

Students’ Socio – Economic Profile

As what I have observe on the SOCIO – ECONOMIC PROFILE OF THE STUDENTS, most of them live with their parents, some live with

their relatives and/or their grandparents because some the students’ parent are abroad or working a far from city. Some students are riding jeeps,
tricycle, bicycle as their transportation and some of the students use to walk because their house is near the school. Most of them are supporting by

their parents, while others by their grandparents or relatives or siblings because their parents are far away from them. They have similarities and

diversity in terms of their hobbies, like playing volleyball, playing in their mobile phones surfing through the internet, reading book in the library,

streaming movies or watching Korean Movies or Korean Dramas and some of them listening to music. Regardless of their status and capabilities,

they equal attention and affection, because accept it or not, each of the students are affected by their issues or problems in their family. This youth

needs guidance, protection and blessing by our good Lord.

Activity 4-A

Classroom Management

Before you enter in our room, the students already know what they need to do. Once you enter our classroom you will see the students chair

being arranged, you will see them sweeping the floor and pick up the trash near them and you will see the black board being erased. The after that

they would throw the trash outside if it’s already full. I believe that the cleanliness of the calssroom is the priority, because It gives impact to the

students learning, if it’s conducive for them to use. That is why we make sure that before we start our class discussion we make sure that there is no

paper on the floor and the seats are arranged and the students are in their proper place. That is why we make sure that the classroom is clean. In that

way I can say that the classroom is conducive to the learners. The Classroom’s bulletin board is well organised and all of the information is posted

related to their subject and learning. We start our lesson with a game that will introduce them to the lesson.
Being teacher is a really hard job, you have to wake up early to make lesson plan and fix your Instructional Materials, but all your efforts is

paid off by seeing your students learn and appreciate your strategies in the way that they are enjoying the lesson.

Activity 5

Lesson Planning
Lesson plan is a teachers’ road map of what students need to learn and how it will be done effectively during class time. When I do my

lesson plan, I always focus on the objectives and ono how can I apply the CAP method or the Cognitive, Affective and the Psychomotor skills and

then I come up with the strategies that will fit my lesson to make my lesson more enjoyable. Also I think of the Instructional Materials I will use that

will caught up the attention of my students. In doing my lesson plan I encountered a lot of struggles – like what activity and strategies I will use and

put up on my lesson plan. I always do my lesson plan, even on weekends I make sure that I will finsh my lesson plan for the whole week. After I

Finish my lesson plan for the whole week I submitted my work to my Cooperating Teacher to check it, if there’s a mistake or there’s a content that is

needed to correct by him. Mastery of the lesson is one of the techniques you need to do to have a better delivery, and to know if your objectives is

effective and efficient to the learners.

Activity 6

Art of Questioning
Art of Questioning is one of the most difficult parts in teaching because this is the part wherein you will know the effectiveness of your

lesson. Question that make the student think deeply or use their critical thinking. Through teacher’s questioning, the learners can make ideas that will

stimulate and engage their HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills).

Before I start my lesson I always come up with a question, which it will lead us to our proper lesson. In constructing my question I always

make sure that the students can understand the question according to their comprehension. Hence, I observe my student that they can comprehend to

the lesson and they can answer my question very well. Most of the time, they give an example which is related to the reality. And sometimes they

challenge me by asking question in return. In this part I am sure that I have made a relationship with them.

Activity 7

Instructional Materials
I always put up my Instructional Materials according to what lesson I will discuss. I used to be creative and artistic when creating my

Instructional Materials. I always make sure that my Grade 9 students never had a hard time understanding my lesson. I always put my effort in doing

my IM’s. In fact everyday I use variety od IM’s so that my student will enjoy my lesson. Sometimes I use picture, video clip and let my student

analyze the video and after that I will ask question to them regarding on the video that they watched. And the discussion would not be exciting if

there is no group or individual activity, and sometime it’s better to put some games that is connected to the lesson. I make sure my student if they

learned and understood the topic that I had discuss so I will know if they learned or not.

Activity 8
Assignment
After discussing the lesson, I will give an assignment, the day doesn’t end without giving an assignment that they will do in their homes –

assignments that are connected in our previous lesson and of course assignment for the next topic. In the very beginning of our first meet I announce

to my students that they will have an everyday assignment which they will find a deep Filipino word and give its meaning, in short it is a

TALASALITAAN, and aside from that, they need to have an advance reading on our next topic and answer the question that I provided. Giving

assignments to students is also a way to let them learn and let them solve complex problem on their own. Completing homework makes students

more responsible and helps them learn time management skills. In that way the students will know their responsibility in doing their homework.

Activity 9

Testing and Grading

In making Test Questionnaires, I make sure that all of the items had been tackled in our previous lesson so that the student can cope and

understand the question. The role of Teacher is to facilitate and guide the students during their test. Through the test that they answered, I will know

if they have learn something from me. The questionnaire that I made has a multiple choice, Rumbled words, Identification, Matching type about the

lesson we discuss in the previous discussion. The scores or the result of their exam will show if they have learned something from me. Because of the

new Curriculum which is K-12 are based on performance task, I make sure that the very end of the lesson we discuss, there is an activity that will

measure if they actively listen to our discussion. Sometimes, I prefer group activities, so that there will be a sharing of ideas between the students.

And I make sure that the activities that I present is connected to the discussion and enjoyable.
In Grading the performance task, I always handover the rubrics to the students so that they know how will I be graded their group or

individual performance. When it comes to giving grades, I gave my students the Grade that they deserve. On the other hand, the student that got a

lower grades, I gave them chance In giving a remedial class that will help them reach the score that they deserve.

Activity 10

Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities

When it comes to Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities, Gordon Heights National High School is very competitive, the students

are actively joining Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activites, every teacher is very supportive in their students. GHNHS has many Co-Curricular

Activities that they prepared for their students. Every students is joining every activities like Buwan ng Wika, Sportsfest and other activities. The

teacher make sure that their students won’t encounter any danger, they make sure that their students is safe before the activities end.
B. Participation and
Teaching Phase

I. Working with the students

When the practice teaching started, I felt so nervous because I will encounter a different students. Before I start my teaching my Cooperating

Teacher said that always put a barrier between my students in that way my students won’t be sure about my personality – if I’m strict or happy

person, he also said that don’t be too close to my students so that they will know their limitation.
I am a student teacher in Filipino of Grade 9 namely; Amethyst, Ruby, Sapphire, Carnelian and Aquamarine. I am so glad to have them as

may students, because they respect me, they obey me, and they love like a real teacher.

When the practice teaching starts, day by day they starts to know what’s my personality.

As the day goes by I’m getting to know them. Some of them tells the story of their lives, some of them share their problem and asking for advice,

some of them are talkative, and some of them are silently participating. I’m so glad that in just three months I felt to be loved, in just three months I

have a closure to them. Sometimes they are a bit naughty and so noisy but when I started to be quiet they know that I’m upset. I’m happy that most of

the student trying to speak Filipino and translate the years into Filipino language. I know someday they will miss me because when my last day of

teaching to them, I said that “this is the last time we will see each other again, see you around and see you when I see you” some of them started to

cry and I got carried away too. Then after that, I gave them a blue cartolina let them write a message they wanted to say to me for the last time. Some

of them message me from the messenger saying that I am the best Student teacher they have ever had. In that way, they make me feel that I’m worth

it. All my efforts in doing the lesson plan and the Instructional Materials, all my sleepless nights are being paid by their appreciation. I appreciate

their hardwork in doing TALASALITAAN everyday, especially when they submit the requirements on time. It’s true that when you put your passion

on what you want to do, everything will follow according to your will. I learned that being kind to your students even to the worst ones, change them

by showing that you care for them. And now I’m sure that the teaching is my passion.

II. Working with the Cooperating Teacher

From the first to last day of my teaching in GHNHS, I felt so happy because of my Cooperating Teacher, Mr Willy Rance Antigo. He is very

funny and very authoritative that when the students see him from far the students will run and go to their classroom. I like his personality when it

comes to his rules, he is strict that is why I easily gained my authority to my student too. Whenever I observe to his class, and some of his students
are not participating he will call their names and ask to share their conversation in front of the class, and the students will pay attention to him. When

it comes to delivering the lesson, I will say that he is indeed an effective teacher, why? Because he makes the lesson fun and enjoyable. He always

said to me that Filipino subject is very boring but you can make it more enjoyable by giving activities or games that the student will enjoy and at the

same time learn. I don’t know how to thank Mr. Antigo for all the help and advice that he gave me. For all the good comments that he gave me, He is

very thoughtful because most of the time he is ready when I’m problematic about my lessons or for the things that I needed for my lessons. For me,

saying “Thank you” is not enough for all the thing he have done to me.

He serves as my second father inside and outside the campus. A very supportive and caring teacher and father I’ve known that turns my tears

and nervousness into positivity and courage. He is a busy person, but still he doesn’t forget his duties and responsibilities to me as his student teacher

and to his students. He always encourage me by saying that I can do it.

The best thing about Mr. Antigo is that he doesn’t let me fail. In fact when my final demo comes, he provided me everything that I need. We

prepared so much for the final demo and thank God it is successful and it is all worth it. I like how he takes care and handle things and situation.

When I finish all my class he always set a post-con to say what I’m going to do in the next day. He evaluates me and tells me my weakness that I

need to improve. For me he is an inspiration.

III. Working with the Department Head

Mrs. Maxima U. Dinglas is like a mother to us. She give us a piece of advice when it comes to teaching. She tell us about our strong and

weaknesses so that we will improve it. We respect her so much. We are very thankful to her because she is the one of the reason where we are right

now. I am very thankful to her because she guided us to our lesson plan. She is one of the person that encourage me to do my best and be who I am

when I’m teaching. Whenever we feel nervous, she always say that be who you are, and you are a student teacher you are free to have a mistake
because that mistake will be your lesson learned. Even in our Final demo, she gives us a good comments and that became a biggest factor to pass our

final demo teaching. Actually, one time when I took a picture of Mr. Antigo on his demo teaching when I was an observer. She observed Mr. Antigo

too that time and while I was taking pictures, I glanced on her. I was looking if she will be annoyed but she just let me take pictures. During the

demo of Mr. Antigo, she asked me to take a picture of them and yes my first impression on her wasn’t true because she’s actually kind.

How I wish that all people will be like her who is very approachable, kind and honorable.

IV. Working with the Principal

I’ve known Mrs Gemma F. Flores since I was in high school and I can tell that she is very approachable and kind. She always roaming in the

school campus just to make sure that no students in the hallway. And now that I see her again but in the different school, I can tell that she change a

lot in a good way. She always make sure that everything is fine in every corner of the school. I can tell that she is also kind and approachable because

whenever I see her in the hallway I always greet her and she greet me back. She is very dedicated to her job and she is very professional.
C. Transition, Observation
and Reflection Phase
I. Compilation of weekly journal

Week 1

(January 6-10)

The first week of our student teaching is getting started! And I felt so nervous. Tuesday, January 7 is the day that I started to check the

attendance of my students. Mr. Antigo let me go to his class first to check the attendance of the students. The next day I started to arrange their sitting

arrangement and make some rules and regulation before I start my teaching. Thursday, I facilitate their Periodical Exam in my advisory class which

is Amethyst. I examine them on how or what strategies I will use to keep my exam enjoyable. Friday, continuation of the Periodical Exam of

Amethyst. The day went smoothly and I am getting ready to teach them and get to know them.

Week 2

(January 13-17)
2nd week is on! No classes on January 13, so I have time to prepare my lesson plan and instructional materials for this week. Then, Tuesday I

started to discuss “Talambuhay ni Rizal” in amethyst, item analysis in Filipino to section Ruby and Carnelian. In ruby section I discuss to them some

classroom rules and regulation and I arrange their sitting arrangement in alphabetical order. Every Tuesday I have no class in sapphire so I’ve got

time to prepare for the next class after them. And my last class is Aquamarine which I did was item analysis to them. The next day is Wednesday I

started my class in amethyst by doing an item analysis, also in sapphire, and I discuss “Talambuhay ni Rizal” in Carnelian and Aquamarine.

Thursday, I am full packed in all of the five classes I have. I discuss them the lesson and use different strategies that I ake sure they will enjoy the

lesson. Friday, I gave them task or homework that they will need to do on Monday and I have a homeroom in my advisory class Amethyst so will

play some games and also getting to know each other.

Week 3

(January 20-24)

This week my lesson plan and my Instructional Materials are ready. I started discussing my lesson which is “Kaligirang Pangkasaysayan ng

Noli Me Tangere” on January 20. I felt very nervous because my Cooperating teacher is sitting at the back staring at me. At first I felt like I’m

passing out but when I started talking and giving information to my students everything went really well. This week I tackle about Chapter 1 and 2,

Chapter 3 and 4 and Chapter 5 and 6 of Noli Me Tangere. After that he said that I improved a lot and he said that keep up my good work and always

do my best. I am happy that all the strategies I indicate in my lesson plan is successful and they enjoy my teaching not knowing that they are learning.

Week 4

(January 27-31)
This week I felt a tons of nervous in my nerves. It is the Midterm Demonstration. I prepared all of the materials I needed in midterm demo.

January 28 is my unforgettable moments because this was my first Midterm Demo. I feel excited and at the same time I feel nervous. And At last

thank you Lord we finish our Midterm Demo with flying colors. We all pass the Demonstration. And I woukd like to take this opportunity to thank

all the student teachers that help us prepared our material for the teaching. I would also like to thank the students for participating in our activities,

and also for Mr. Antigo for guiding me all throughout my Demonstration. I was observed in my advisory class which is Amethyst and I am very

grateful that they studied the lesson and they answer all the question that I give them. They also gives me challenge by asking some question about

the lesson.

Week 5

(February 3-7)

After a month with my students. I can say that I am now enjoying spending my time with them. We have a lot to talk about. After that we play

some games that is connected to the lesson which they actually enjoyed. I am happy that all my strategies are effective to my learner. I can say now

that I am an effective teacher. I am happy whenever they raised their hands when I am asking a question, because I know that they want to learn more

from me. And I am very happy that they appreciate my efforts by giving compliments to my instructional Materials. Spending time with them makes

them know me better especially about my personality.

Week 6

(February 10-15)

February 10, I made a game about 6 chapters of Noli Me Tangere. But before that I gave them assignments that read the 6 chapters of Noli

Me Tangere. I made a game called Hinuha-Salita wherein they will fill the blank in the statement that I give. I let them watch the Video Clip that I
provided to deepen their understanding to the lesson, and the after that I ask some question to them. Luckily they answer all the question. The next

day I made a strategy that will wnhance their knowledge about leadership. I call it “Wepapol na Pipol” wherein there are 5 pictures that I will present,

and that picture is our presidents in the philipines. And I ask them a question on why this people consider a good leader I let them write their opinion

and share them to the class.

Week 7

(February 17-21)

This week has been the hardest week because my cooperating teacher Mr. Antigo has been hands on to me. After every class he gave me

feedback on what will I do on my next class and how will I improve it on the next class. I am happy that the most of the feedback of my Cooperating

Teacher are some of them is positive. And this fast few days I notice that I’m getting along with my students so much that they getting to the point

that they do not obey me. So I set some barrier to keep our relationship as a teacher and as my students. And I’m glad that they obey me and they

respect me as their student teacher. Somoetime when I feel down they cheer me up and giving me a good comments like “you are the best ST we’ve

ever known”. In that way I feel so happy because I felt that they love me and they appreciate me for being their student teacher.

Week 8

(February 24-28)

This week I can’t focus on my teaching so much because I am thinking about my Final Demo. My Cooperating Teacher helped me a lot in

preparing my Lesson Plan and Instructional Materials. He gave me advice on what should I do, and what strategy should I put in my lesson plan. And

the next day I let them watch the video clip that I provided so that they will answer all of my question. But it turns out they ask me question about on
what happen on the scene that they have watched. So I am the one who answers their question to deepen their knowledge about the lesson. I’m glad

that they learned something to me as their student teacher.

Week 9

(March 2-6)

I’m so stress right now because the Final Demo is near. And I felt so nervous that i want to vomit. And I ask advice to my Cooperating

Teacher on what shoul I do, but he said that I should remain calm because everything will be okay. In that way, I am so grateful that I have a kind,

caring, and industrious Cooperating Teacher that always help me in all that I need to do. And the Final demo has arrived. We are so busy and at the

same time stress because we don’t know where to start and what to do. But we remain calm. I am third in the final demo. After lunch my cooperating

teacher helped me gather my things and helped me. He helped me organise my Instructional Materials and ask me if I there’s something I need.

Glory to God that I survive my final demo with flying colors. We all did our best in our Final Demo. I am thankful that we all passed the Final demo.

We can now rest and have fun. Thanks Lord for this experience!.

Week 10

(March 9-13)

This is the last week that I see my students. I felt sad because it’s finally the end, I will miss my students. Thanks to GHNHS to this

unforgettable experience. I will remember this forever. This experience show me who I am and this experience show me that teaching is my passion.

In just three months I have built a relationship with my students to the point that they don’t want me to leave. I will be forever thankful to GHNHS

for the experience they gave me. I can finally enter the world of teaching. All thanks to what I have
learned in GHNHS. THANK YOU!
