(iii) Need for the project and its importance to the Country and or Region
Jammu & Kashmir is a rich state in mineral. The state is endowed with
major and minor mineral resources. The region, where the project is
situated, people are mostly dependent on agriculture and mineral
resources. The developments of mining in the area provide direct and
indirect employment opportunities, infrastructure development,
communication and development socio-economic infrastructure. The

The lease area has been marked on toposheet No. 43J/4 falls in near
village-Chunawali Zamboor Pattan Chulan, Tehsil-Uri, District–
Baramulla, in the state of J&K.
(iii) Details of alternate sites considered and the basis of selecting the
proposed site, particularly the environmental considerations gone
into should be highlighted.
It is naturally occurring rocks which is site specific due to its geological
origin. This lease is granted by the state govt. No alternative sites are
proposed.
(vi) Raw material required along with estimated quantity, likely source,
marketing area of final products/s, Mode of transport of raw Material
and Finished Product.
No raw material is required during the mining process. The operation
involved excavation of Gypsum directly transport to end users/market
in the form of lumps and grits.
(ix) Quantity of wastes to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for
their management/disposal.
the phyllitic material that comes out in bigger fragments will be utilized
in the middle development in making parapet walls toe walls, retaining
walls etc and the rest shall be dumped in earmarked dumps year wise
and each dump will be protected by stone fencing and yearly plantation
will be made over such dumps. In case of mine closure if any the
parapet walls will be utilized in back filling of the benches created due
to haulage road together with the recoverable rejected waste from the
waste dump yard and followed by the plantation through local verities
particularly herbs and shrubs to prevent any soil erosion to a great
extent.
Application in Form 2 along with Pre-feasibility Report, Approved mining plan and other
relevant documents to State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) as per MOEF OM
J-13012/12/2013-IA-II (I) Dated 24th December 2013 (Cat. -‘B2’)
from bore well to be dug near the leasehold. A small water tank is also
proposed in mine office premises. This can be used for supply of water
to drinking purposes.
(iii) Land Use planning (breakup along with green belt etc.). Approximate
land use is as following for life of Mine.

The project of Gypsum mining in the area, about 25 person are proposed/
being to be employed. The labour will be employed from nearby
villages/area locally. Clean drinking water and medical facilities will be
made available at project area and in nearby villages.
(v) Amenities/Facilities
Basic amenities/facilities available in nearby villages and towns such as
road, power supply, communication, water supply, medical and health
etc. Site is well connected with road and other infrastructure facilities.
Communication facilities are such as post office, telecommunication
available in Chunawali Zamboor Pattan Chulan, Tehsil-Uri, and District-
Baramulla, J&K. Nearby villages is well electrified. Medical facilities are
available in Uri. General Hospital is available at Tehsil - Uri, District-
Baramulla, J&K. Apart from the above, during operational phases of
mining, following facilities shall be provided as:
(i) All the safety norms will be strictly followed.
(ii) Provision of clean drinking water.
(iii) Group insurance scheme for engaged workers.
(iv) First aid facilities.
(v) Periodical medical campaigns for mine workers and nearby
villagers.
The profit will depend upon the actual production obtained from the mine
and demand of mineral in market. Details of activities & budgetary
allocation for ESR activities and Labourers welfare activities are detailed
in below table:

royalty from selling of mineral, land tax/surface rent; Sales tax/VAT,
income tax etc. will be addition. The operation of the proposed project
of Gypsum mining will bestow various social and economic benefits to
the local communities of the area. Thus the project of Gypsum mining
will prove beneficial to the area.
