5. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Al-Shaheen field is QATAR’s largest oil field. It is a conventional oil field (of approximately 60 m water depth) situated
offshore the State of Qatar approximately 70 km north-north-east of Ras Laffan. The field overlays the giant pre-Khuff gas field
known as North Field.
Thirty three platforms, including five production hubs, are installed in Al-Shaheen field. These are spread over nine different
areas across the field - Locations A to I. Crude is exported by tanker via tandem offloading from two FSOs which are
permanently moored in the field to two (of three) SPMs. Gas is gathered in a gas grid pipeline system and exported via North
Field Alpha.
The field has been developed through several phases and further development phases are envisaged by COMPANY as operator
of the Al-Shaheen concession.
In order to improve the field production capacity COMPANY has initiated Al-Shaheen Gallaf project. Gallaf project consists in
installing 7 new WHPs and 1 process platform to existing Al-Shaheen field platforms. The project is planned to be developed in
3 batches:
i. The first batch (Batch 1) consists of three (3) new wellhead platforms (DC, EG and FC) bridge-linked to existing
platforms (DA, ED and FA).

ii. The second batch (Batch 2) consists of 2 new wellhead platforms (CE and EH) bridge-linked to existing platforms (CD
and EG).
iii. The third batch (Batch 3) consists of 2 new remote wellhead platforms and one new process platform bridge-linked to
existing platform GD.
As a base case, platforms shall be designed for full 24 well-slot access and operation using 60-foot drilling jack-ups on one
defined footprint.

1. Job Risk Assessment (JRA) meeting shall be conducted with all relevant parties i.e. Engineering Team, Construction
Team, HSE Team, Riggers and Lifting Supervisor to ensure the procedure and safety during lifting operation.
2. All lifting rigging equipment and certificates shall be checked in accordance with Lifting Plan Checklist to ensure all the
equipment is as per lifting design.
3. Environmental assessment shall be performed prior to lifting operation to ensure the current wind speed does not
exceed the maximum wind speed limit of 15 Knots.
4. All perimeters shall be secured by using barricade fences prior to lifting operation. Only authorized personnel shall be
permitted to enter the perimeter during lifting operation.
5. All crane routes shall be checked for any obstacle prior to start the lifting activity.
1. Crawler cranes are in initial position. Crane 1 shall set the boom length and working radius to 60 m and 24.00m
respectively. Crane 2 shall set the boom length and working radius to 114 m and 29 m respectively.
2. All rigging equipment is connected to crane hooks.
3. Lift crane hooks to start tensioning all slings. The jacket panel shall remain supported on the temporary support.
4. Increase the crane load incrementally by 10% of lift weight until the reading on the crane load reaches 100% lift
weight. Crane operator to report each reading of crane load to the Lifting Supervisor.
5. After reading on the crane load shows 100% lift weight have been taken by the crane, lift-up until the panel ROW-1 3
meter from temporary support and start to inclination panel ROW-1 with 5.7 degree at crane 2 with hook-up & change
radius from 29 meter up to 29.20 meter, crane operator report each reading of crane load after inclination.
6. Before moving and lift above the level of final position, crane operator report each reading of crane after each action
and panel ROW-1 ready to start moving to side of final position.
1. All cranes prepare for traveling to final position on the erection support.
2. Lifting Supervisor shall guide all the crane operators and signal man to ensure all cranes operates simultaneously.
3. After crane movement until at side of the final position, panel ROW-1 continue to lift-up until aproximatelly 2 meter
from top of horizontal X-Brace.
4. Continue movement to the final position, all clearances to the structure below it shall be maintained and monitored.
1. At the final position, crane operator report each reading of crane load before to lowered down the hooks.
2. All hooks shall be lowered down to install the panel on top of jacket structure below.
3. Lifting Supervisor to communicate with Dimensional Controller to achieve the correct installation position.
4. After the panel has been installed with minimum 30% welding, all crawler cranes shall release the crane loads
gradually by 10% of lift weight until the reading on the crane shows that the crane is free loaded. Crane Operators to
report the reading of crane loads to Lifting Supervisor.
5. All riggings shall be dismantled and then the crane hook shall be raised up and secured in the safe clearance from
jacket structure.

8. COMPUTER MODEL
A three-dimensional model of EH WHP Jacket Row 1 has been developed using SACS v14.1 to check structural integrity during
lifting from temporary support to final erection support. The general isometric views of EH WHP Jacket Row 1 lifting are shown
in Figure 8-1.
Relevant material parameters as described below have been assigned for each member accordingly in the model.

Lateral springs are also introduced in the model to prevent rigid body movement and to ensure numerical stability of structure.
The generated reaction shall not exceed 0.1% of structure total weight.
For sling members, releases are applied to allow only tension in member internal end forces.

8.5. Loadings
Various loads have been simulated in the model, either by auto-generation or user-input. These loads have been grouped into
specific basic load cases number as defined in Table 8-4. Then, the basic load cases are factored and combined to generate the
worst possible loading conditions that the structure expected to experience during lifting condition. Description of load
combination is presented in Table 8-5.

A. DESCRIPTION
This spreadsheet presents rigging equipments capacity check against occurring load during Row 1 panel lifting to
erection supports. The occurring loads, taken as maximum sling tensions, are obtained from SACS analysis result,
as complete output is provided in Appendix 2.
As per Section 16.3.4 of DNVGL-ST-N0001 (Ref.8), the sling design load shall be taken as maximum calculated
dynamic axial load in the sling by considering relevant factors. The factors considered for this are as per the
the following
FSD = DF x Static Sling Tension
DF = CF x CoGF x DAF x YF x SKL
Where :
CF = Weight contingency factor = 1.05
CoGF = CoG variation factor = 1.05
DAF = Dynamic Amplification Factor = 1.10
YF = Yaw factor = 1.05
SKL = Skew load factor = 1.10
Total Design Load Factor (DF) = 1.40
